come on, tell me.

i open my door slightly, seeing the 4 faces of bill, tom, georg and gustav. tom instantly busts through the door, i jump back - he looks mad. i'm obviously scared enough by the face of 4 of them after i've just been chased down by them, but tom's glare makes my heart drop.

'tom.' gustav grabs ahold of tom's arm, 'i told you, people are more understanding when you just talk to them.'
'so, she broke our trust!'
tom responds to gustav, hissing and yelling yet he's still looking down at me, death-staring me. gustav grips his arm tighter, as bill enters - georg follows, and closes the door behind him as i'm staring in shock.

i tremble, frightened, 'what are you talking about...?'
'oh, you know what i'm talking about you little bitch!'
tom yells.
gustav confronts him, his tone angry, 'relax! it wasn't even her fault she was there. you need to calm down.' gustav then signals for bill to hold him down, then bill sighs - and grips tom's arms together.

gustav sighs, 'i'm sorry about him. it's just that...' he clears his throat, completely cutting off his sentence, 'did you see anything, this morning?' he pauses through his words.
i don't know what to say, terrified - so i just lie, 'no...'

'bullshit.' georg suddenly joins the conversation, crossing his arms. he looks calm, but also a bit ticked off at my lie.
tom points his finger at me, 'i told you, you 2 idiots!' he yells at gustav and bill, 'also, let me go!'

'if you calm down, i will.' bill says in a calm tone. i'm confused, how can he be so calm in a moment like this...

gustav crosses his arms, and looks at me with a soft gaze, 'look, you don't need to lie - just tell us the truth, okay?' i'd hate to admit it but, his voice is actually kind of calming.
bill has let go of toms arms, tom now standing there - giving me a dirty look. i scrunch my face at tom.
'fine, i did.' i somehow stutter - even though i'm mainly always confident, 'i... i just don't know what i saw.'
tom crosses his arms, 'how do you not know what you saw, are you stupid?' bill smacks tom in the chest with the back of his hand.

i growl, and say in a harsh tone, 'can you hop off my dick? it's not my fault i was there seeing you and georg go off on some random bloke.' i furrow my eyebrows, 'what were you even doing? i feel bad for the person you were yelling at - they had to smell your stank ass breath.'

tom has been looking away for the whole time i've been talking, but he turns his head slowly to me as i say the last sentence. i realize what i just said, then step back a bit - defensive. i think to myself, he's hit me before. he WILL hit me again. i gulp. he steps towards me, i then back up against the wall, and he follows me, trapping me between him and the wall behind us.

'say that again.' tom whispers to me, right in front of my face. his breath smells... odd. not bad, but certainly not normal.

bill steps up, and pulls tom away, 'alright that's enough.' i cross my arms, not amused but also scared as i step forward, regaining my own personal space. georg's now standing next to gustav. i then remember something, something crucial that's happened just today. i'm almost about to ask them about it, but then i hear my door open back up.

'look, they may be letting you off easy. but i'm not.' tom clenches his fist, before exiting the room. georg has barely said anything, but he follows tom - staring at me with the same dirty look. bill leaves after them, holding onto tom. gustav doesn't even look back at me, but i decide to pull him back by his arm as he hasn't left yet. it seems the other guys have left without him.
i whisper, 'gustav, could you stay for a moment?'

'oh.' gustav looks back at me as i tug on his arm, then he looks out the door. the boys are already at the sharp corner of the hallway, 'i suppose i could.' he steps back into my dorm before looking back out at the hallway. i silently cheer to myself, he closes the door behind him.

i sweep my hair behind my ear, 'oh well, i was just wondering...' i hesitate - then spit it out, 'you know how you guys were the last ones at the cafe?'

gustav nods, 'yes, we were. why?' he raises his eyebrow. this adds onto my theory, they were the last ones there. i then walk over to my drawer, and pull out my phone. i scroll and scroll, until i get to that same article. when i do, i just play the video - and show it to him.

as he watches the video, he keeps a straight face. his hands in his pockets. nothing in there fazes him even just a bit, which creeps me out.
none of the real gore, descriptive descriptions of what they looked like after they died, the fact that he basically just gave himself away... he pulls a straight face throughout all of it. the video ends, and i put my phone down.

'so tell me, did... you perhaps do this?' i pause in between my words, and just as he's about to speak - i cut him off and put his hands into mine without thinking, 'don't lie to me. please.'
'i...' he can't speak, his fingers aren't interlinked with mine as mine are with his, but he doesn't pull away. he speaks again, 'i can't tell you that.'
'are you serious?'
i let his hands go, my head tilting in disappointment and my voice displaying clear denial. he nods, before just opening up the door and leaving - not even letting me say what i want to say.
'you don't need to lie to me...' i whisper to myself as i was supposed to tell that to gustav. i sigh.

i groan out of frustration, then fall and lay onto it. i clench my fists, wondering how stupid i was to think i was actually getting somewhere. but, if he won't tell me - i'll figure out myself.
