The older woman joined in and tickled the toddler on the bed before throwing him over her shoulder. His giggles loud enough to wake the entire house Thea hoped.

"Come on little man, let's go feed you up."

"I want crisps!"

"No way, toast or cereal."

"Thanks babe, I'll be down in a minute. I'm sorry. I owe you one."

"A big one!" The cop replied, bending by the waist to kiss her, Jemal still firmly attached to her shoulder.

"A big, dirty one." Carla said before biting her lip, her eyes dark with lust.

"You know it beautiful. I love you."

"I love you too." She led on her side smiling and watched them both leave the room. She heard them walk down the stairs, arguing about what Thea would allow him to eat for breakfast, then silence.

The younger woman couldn't help but daydream about when this would be their daily lives. She knew Thea would be over protective, probably quite strict but also loving, kind and patient with their child. Thinking about night feeds, bath times and general life with a little one and her wife when her eyes closed and her breathing slowed. Images of their future sending her into a deep comfortable slumber.

It only felt like seconds had passed when her eyes opened again but when she checked her phone, she realised she'd been asleep for at least two hours. Panicked, she jumped out of bed and threw on Thea's shirt and her own pyjama bottoms and raced towards the stairs. She was worried her wife would be cross with her and she'd slept through the very limited time she had with her family.

When she got to the top of the stairs, she could see two figures through the large window aggressively wrestling in the garden. Rather quickly she identified them as her wife and her brother. The sight of them fighting tripled her heart rate and she flew down the stairs, through the kitchen and marched across the garden to separate them.

Thea smiled as she held the hulking man in a firm headlock, she let him struggle, tiring himself out before using her leg to trip him then letting go of his neck and allowing him to crash to the floor. It was like muscle memory, she'd done this so many times before, then she heard Nana shout 'Carla' loudly. The cop looked up and straight into the eyes of her wife, thundering towards her, finger pointed.

"Enough!" She yelled tearfully, pushing the taller woman away by her shoulders with force but not enough to topple her over. "What the fuck do you think your doing?"

"Babe-"

"No, don't babe me, whatever's happened this is not acceptable." She pointed her finger right in her wife's face, only stopping when she heard Brian laughing on the floor.

Carla looked at him, then to her wife who looked all innocent and then finally to the others who were sat at the patio table calmly eating bacon sandwiches.

"I don't know how you put up with her Thea!" He led on the grass, squinting at Carla against the sun when the cop offered her hand to him. He gratefully accepted and the tall woman pulled him up with ease.

"Nah I know her, she'd have shouted at you if you were left standing but oh, wait... you were the one on the floor!"

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." He chuckled, leaving the couple and walking back to the patio.
