Rin's POV

It was a week or two into the second semester of the school year. It was still warm, but one could easily tell that the weather was shifting to autumn. Winds were beginning to pick up and the sky came over dark faster. This also meant that preseason for soccer was starting up. Clubs called back returners and new recruiters for practice before soccer season began.

I was talking to Ichigo about some soccer club preparations we should remember before real practice began next week.

"I wonder what position we will be assign once-" Ichigo began.

Ichigo and I stopped in our tracks because some girl dropped her pen. I turned my head to look at her really quickly. I didn't recognize her, but I just knew that she had pretty hair. I rapidly shook that thought out of my head because I had to admit, it was weird. I picked it up and was going to hand it to her.

The girl came back once she realized that her pen was gone. She approached me and pointed at my hand, "Sorry, that's the pen I dropped."

"Oh right, here." I handed her pencil back.

"Thanks."

As I walked away with Ichigo, I overheard her friends talking to her about us. Something about us being soccer players. I knew that many people at our school were aware that Ichigo and I played for a professional youth club outside of school, but I didn't know that even losers knew.

Excuse me for calling them losers, but I knew what those girls were like. I see them in the advance courses at our school. They are smart students that only study. I know it's not my place to talk about them like that, especially all I can offer for my future was professional soccer, but still I found it odd. How can people just study as their hobby?

Ichigo interrupted my thoughts, "Bro, you listening? I asked you a question."

"Sorry, I blanked out. What was your question?"

"Do you think that the coaches will play favorites in the club?" Ichigo asked me.

*Time Skip a Couple Days*

I decided to study for a test for once. I hated history with a passion, but I needed to maintain good grades to stay in the soccer club. Unfortunately I had to study alone because Ichigo wanted to play video games rather than passing the history test tomorrow.

I entered the library hoping that no one was there to bother me. Another unfortunate thing happened, the girl that dropped her pen the other day was sitting in my seat.

I decided to not say anything and sat down at the same table, but towards the end. I could tell that she noticed that someone sat down, she looked up to see who it was but she didn't mind and continued to work. She was planning something aggressively. She was writing and erasing, maybe she was doing some sort of project. I became distracted and stared at her without noticing.

She noticed after a while and took out her ear bud to confront me, "You need something?"

I snapped out of it, "No, I don't need anything."

She shrugged her shoulders and continued to work, "Mkay."

I brushed off that encounter and took out supplies to study. I set my computer, papers, pencils, highlighters, and the history notes and textbook out of my backpack.

I couldn't help but wonder why I've been having weird encounters with this girl. Now I just could not concentrate. So much for passing this test tomorrow.

"Hey, Y/N," my cousin Ono said, "Did you ever finish that map of Europe?"
