I'm not going to rewind. This is the ending they were destined to have. Smg4 could've saved himself anyways. But nOoOOoOOo. He cares about his stupid boyfriend. Maybe Smg4 should've been smarter and retreated hm? Be mad at him, not me.

Warning: Major and Minor Character Deaths
Smg4 gasps awake and looks up at Smg3, who was a blushing mess. Smg4 looked at their surroundings and realized he was cuddling with Smg3. He yelps and almost falls back, but he catches himself. 
"...."
"Wait a minute.."
"That's not what happened the first time...I actually fell..."
"Didn't I...?"
Smg4 looks around again, having a feeling of deja vu. "You alright man?" Smg3 asks, trying to ignore the fact he just cuddled with his ex-arch-nemesis. Smg4 looks at Smg3 again, more confused than before. He started to remember the events that happened not so long ago.
 "We..We were falling.."
"We reached the bottom.."
"We died..."
"Smg3..how..how are we still alive..?" Smg4 randomly blurts out. Smg3 frowns and rubs his back, "Dude, we've been alive this whole time. Did you have another nightmare..?" Smg3 asks, making Smg4 frown in response. "Smg3. You..You let go. Why..Why would you do that..?" Smg4 quietly asks, tears forming in his eyes. Smg3 begins to panic. "Hey hey! Don't cry 4..! I'm okay! I didn't let go, and we're both still alive, alright..?" Smg3 says before pulling Smg4 close and holding him in a tight hug. Smg4 hugs back, squeezing Smg3 tighter than ever, and looks at Smg3's back as he's fighting tears in his eyes. There were no claw marks from the monster that took him...odd. 
Smg4's "nightmare" seemed so realistic, it was scary. The intense emotions Smg4 felt as he watched Smg3 fall down into the pit was so...nerve-wrecking. The blue man couldn't even believe it was a dream. He felt the moment he was dying. He remembered all of his thoughts, feelings, and tears as he hit the bottom with Smg3. He still remembered all the guilt he felt for leaving the others as he died. For some reason, he also remembered hearing the cries of Mario, Meggy, Tari, and Luigi. One thing that stuck with him the most was Tari's voice.
"Meggy..the blood is still fresh.."
As Smg4 continued to get lost in thought, Smg3 pulls away from the hug and wiped Smg4's tears, making Smg4 blush in response. "Everything will be alright 4. I promise. We're making out of this alive.." Smg3 says, giving the other a confident smile. Smg4 takes a deep breath and looks at Smg3, smiling a little. "Yeah, we'll make it out of here.." he says, hugging Smg3 again. At least he knows what's going to happen now right? All he has to do is just be careful this time. He had to protect Smg3 and make sure nothing happened to him. Smg3 rubs Smg4's back before carefully getting up. "So, do we have a plan on how to escape?" he asks the other, and Smg4 nods. "There should be a cannon somewhere around here. We find it, and it'll shoot us back up to the surface." Smg4 said with a confident smile. He mapped everything out perfectly. He knew where the cannon was so he could just run with Smg3 and avoid the monsters.
