It was a new day and they were preparing to continue their mission, though Sora was still sound asleep confusing everyone.
"Should we wake her up yet?" Senshi asked.
"No we'll let her sleep, Aisura stay here with her, Senshi and I should be able to get the rest done easily," Tatsuo said.
Aisura nodded and Senshi left with Tatsuo still confused as to what was happening. Tatsuo had tried to wake her up earlier but she didn't stir at all, he was growing worried but decided to leave it until they were finished hoping she was just really tired. He didn't need her with them this time anyway because he had marked on a map for him the areas to check for secret areas. Which would be very helpful.
Aisura sat with a sleeping Sora just watching her, it was unusual to see her sleeping so soundly. He usually had to sneak around in order not to wake her up. two hours passed before she finally began to stir. Aisura smiled as her blue eyes opened and looked around as she tried to orientate herself.
"where. what," Sora mumbled confused and groggy.
"Morning sleepy head, you sure slept for a while," Aisura said smiling at her.
Sora slowly sat up looking around feeling a bit off.
"Where are the others," Sora mumbled.
"they left to finish searching the main house," Aisura said.
"We should join them," Sora said getting up but she was still wobbly.
Aisura quickly stood up with her and she began to stumble. He reached out to her to help her find her feet. Sora tensed slightly at the sudden touch.
"Sorry about that," Aisura said as he took a step away from her, knowing she didn't like people touching her.
She rubbed her head still groggy as she tried to shake off the sleepiness, not used to being like this when waking up. She usually picked up pretty quickly.
"We don't need to go help, we are to stay here until they get back," Aisura explained.
Sora nodded as she sat down grateful she wouldn't have to enter the main house again. Aisura watched her carefully worried about her because she was acting strange, well stranger than usual.
"You okay Sora?" Aisura questioned.
"Yeah, just...Fuzzy," She said.
He shuffled closer to her peering at her face, Sora just looked at him unsure of what he was doing. He observed her, searching to see if he could find any signs of her getting sick, but he couldn't see any physical signs. He leaned back still watching her intensely. Sora's eyes narrowed as she watched him.
"what's up with you?" Sora questioned.
"Are you feeling sick, you are talking a lot more and seem more relaxed. this is really unlike you" Aisura questioned.
Sora paused for a moment to think about it. He wasn't wrong. Since she woke up she didn't feel so tense, she no longer felt like there was someone right behind her, she now felt like there was someone next to her, but it wasn't a negative presence. It was putting her at ease.
"I'm fine, you don't need to worry about me," Sora said trying to brush off his concern.
"I'm always going to worry about you, both Senshi and I," Aisura said.
"I doubt that. Senshi can't stand me. She can't wait for this mission to be over and get away from me," Sora said, she wasn't bitter or upset, she knew it was because of her attitude.
"you're wrong about Senshi," Aisura said.
Sora looked at him confused. It seemed pretty simple to her, so what did he mean by that? Aisura sighed.
"I didn't tell you any of this okay," Asisura said.
Sora gave a small nod now a bit curious as to what he was going to say.
"Senshi is someone who has been given a lot of responsibility since she was quite young. Her father is always on missions never being home because he is the only income in the house and they have three kids, and on top of that, her mother is sick and her medicine isn't the cheapest. So with her mother always bedridden and her father never home trying to make ends meet Senshi has been raising her siblings. Something she has never complained about.
But becoming a ninja and having to go on such a long mission has put her on edge because of her siblings. The second eldest is old enough to look after themselves for a bit but not so much the younger one. That's why she's so anxious to get back. It has nothing to do with you," Aisura explained.Sora nodded it all making a bit more sense as to why she wanted to hurry things along. Aisura was right that was quite a bit of responsibility.
"Though you can't deny she doesn't like me very much," Sora said still convinced that was the case.
"Well, she liked you and wanted to be your friend when you first came to the academy but she was nervous to talk to you. But you kinda pushed her away quite harshly and that turned into her wanting to reach your point. She sees you as someone incredibly strong, something she wants to be. So it turned into a one-sided rivalry. She sees you continuing to get stronger and it feels like she can't catch up despite how hard she tries. So that comes out in anger. But now that we're on a team the part of her that wanted to be your friend has resurfaced and she's frustrated that's all," Aisura explained.
This gave Sora even more to think about. Did she reject Senshi that badly? Thinking back on it she did. That was when she first came to the village and everything was still so new and scary. Everything and everyone was a threat. She still often felt like that but it was a lot more toned down now. Who knows if Senshi was the one to befried her instead of Hikari maybe she wouldn't be so against having friends. Sora sighed, no it probably would have turned out the same.
"so I know you don't see us as teammates but we see you as one and will no matter what. So we will look out for you no matter what. I can't promise that we can protect you from everything because that's unrealistic we are just new genin after all. But I can promise we will always do everything in our power to protect you, no matter what is thrown at us we won't run and leave you alone. I swear to you," Aisura said determination filling his eyes.
Sora looked at him shocked, he sounded so earnest, but why? She had done nothing to deserve this. Was it a lie, she couldn't see any deceit in him. How was she meant to respond to this? Aisura only smiled as he soon went to his bag pulling out a book on medical ninjutsu completely dropping the conversations having told Sora everything he wanted to say. He wasn't expecting her to respond after he unloaded that onto her.
Sora stayed there still processing what he said. Maybe she could... She shook her head before she could finish that train of thought. no that was stupid, she would get hurt, or they would get hurt. She had to stay by herself to keep herself and others safe. As he brother said she was a curse that caused those close to her to die. So she would stay isolated.
