There was a saying, that a hero was known far and wide for their incredible courage and willingness to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. This hero, no matter what obstacle or challenge they faced, always stood tall; never surrendering or backing down.
They were selfless and heroic beyond measure but perhaps, they were a little too self-sacrificing.
Their love for the world and its people was so profound that they would give everything if it meant that it would lead to a better and safer world.
But what if not all hero wishes like that? What if she just wish to save the one she truly love most? Would she be selfish?
To some, it would seem that way. There would be those who would call her selfish, that she was using the excuse of 'saving her true love' to not fulfill her duties with the sacrifice. However, to her... she was not being selfish. 
To her, she would be acting completely selfless. Why would she sacrifice everything for humanity when her own love is what she holds dear to her most? Her love... it's the only thing that matters the most to her...
Even if sacrificing herself could end up creating a better world... how is she supposed to live in it knowing that her own love will never be there to help her live through this new world that they created? 
After all...

Several years into the future...
It's been a long time since I had fully accepted the Herrscher core and became the new Herrscher of Dominance. I fully gained access to the power of Domination itself and utilizing its vast capabilities to protect the world from the Honkai and other threats. During such time, I had devoted myself more to my duties as a Herrscher and as the Captain of Schicksal, continuing to strive to improve and protect humanity that seek to destroy us.
Years after the aftermath of the final battle against Otto Apocalypse and the Herrscher of Corruption. However, while each threat would come and go, nothing would stay truly gone forever.
Everyone changed immensely while adapting to the new environment that they were thrown into. Mei, who had accepted her role as the Herrscher of Origin, has been working together with Kiana, the Herrscher of Finality, to restore the Earth.
During this fleeting moment, me and Mei have now settled down on the warm, comforting sands and let our feet submerge in the water with our hands intertwined together.
We remained like this for a while. Our only focus was being on just taking the time to relax and unwind from all of the constant stress and problems that we had to deal with over the past few years.
We both just gaze at each other before I lifted her hand to kiss it.
"Such a beautiful moment to spend this time with the one I love."
"Yes... it really is." Mei said with a small smile as she looked back up at me with a happy gaze.
"Perhaps things would turn out differently if you haven't convinced me back then." I whispered.
"Perhaps... But regardless of what could've been different..."
"The fact that we're here together in this moment... that's the only thing that matters right now."
