when seungkwan clocked back in to work that afternoon, he let out a loud sigh at himself. he wished he had a longer break between his shifts, but he had things to do while the restaurant was closed, so in the end, he could only sneak off and take a short nap in seokmin's car.
truthfully, he knew he could let the second hostess do the grunt of the work while he napped. jeonghan even suggested he do that because seungkwan was there since the morning, so the manager thought it was fair, but seungkwan couldn't do that. he knew the younger girl didn't deserve that, so he just did the heavy lifting in the meantime.
seungkwan waved tiredly at the younger hostess who was spot sweeping the dining room, the younger girl taking off her headphones as she said that there was family meal in the back. seungkwan jumped excitedly as he thanked her, jogging to the back and heading towards the server area where everyone ate. he smiled as he saw most of his friends eating and chatting lightly over their food.
seungkwan saw mingyu's shoulders perk up at his arrival, heading silently to the back just as the younger boy was about to ask if there was any food left. seungkwan rolled his eyes at the older boy's retreating figure, turning towards his friends as he quietly asked if they would share their food with him.
chan smiled as he held the rest of his bowl towards the older boy. seungkwan smiled thankfully at the youngest as he searched around for a spoon, hurriedly eating the food as he grumbled something about mingyu being too lazy to cook for him.
junhui shook his head softly as he said, "i don't know why you guys hate him so much. he's actually really cool." he smiled as the rest of his fellow line cooks quickly agreed with him.
chan shared an apprehensive look with seokmin, both boys sighing to themselves as they heard seungkwan loudly scoff. they sat back silently as seungkwan angrily handed the bowl of food back to chan.
"hyung, you didn't go to college with us, that's why. he jokes around with you guys, and that's fun and all, but don't fall for it." seungkwan said as he crossed his arms over his chest.
minghao looked around nervously, ignoring seokmin who quickly shook his head in warning as he said, "i don't know, seungkwan. we drank with him last night, and he actually seemed really nice."
seungkwan's face fell as he looked at minghao. "hyung, not you..." he trailed off sadly.
seungkwan felt his shoulders drop as he listened to his coworkers talk about how cool and nice mingyu was with them. it angered seungkwan because that was not the mingyu that seungkwan knew.
seungkwan opened his mouth to say something but paused as he spotted mingyu jogging over to them out of the corner of his eye. his face scrunched up in annoyance, and he pointed a finger to yell at mingyu, but his face fell as mingyu held out a bowl of food towards him.
mingyu smiled shyly as he murmured, "here, seungkwan. i didn't forget about you."
seungkwan looked down at the bowl, and he felt embarrassed as his stomach began to rumble loudly. he saw the steam coming from the bowl, and he didn't look away as he mumbled dumbly, "it's hot."
there was a sheepish smile on mingyu's face, the taller boy shrugging nonchalantly as he said, "well, i would hope so. i made it just now."
the group smiled sweetly at mingyu, thinking the older boy's gesture was nice. if only seungkwan saw it that way. and as the younger boy's face scrunched up, his friends hurriedly scooted their chairs back.
"is this poisoned?!"
"what?!"
"did you poison this?"
