Lyra rubbed her eyes as she sat on the steps of the pagoda. Fates she felt exhausted. Isadora had pulled her away and ran with her the whole way here, leaving the boys to figure out what to do next. Is could tell that her best friend was overwhelmed and needed some girl time.

"This place is beautiful." Isadora said as she looked around at the thick forest and sparse older architecture. "No wonder you come out here so much."

"This was not how I saw my day going."

Isadora snorted at that. "Who would have? I don't even think the unknown over in the kitchen knew everything that was going to go down." She chuckled, nudging Lyra to try and get her to laugh.

"I'm not in the mood to laugh Is."

"Fair enough. You've got a lot going on."

"I'm well aware."

"A new home."

"..."

"Us coming here."

"I wouldn't say that's a problem."

"A ball full of vampires right around the corner."

"Is."

"A plan that now has some loose ends."

"Is."

"And let's not forget the hot, vampire stud who is taking up a ton of your attention." She made a mock whistling sound.

"Isadora."

Is glanced at Lyra with a smirk. "Which is why that we will be taking the slayers off your mind."

Lyra frowned. "I can handle them."

"Oh no doubt you can, but Kore's got a plan for them and thankfully you won't be doing much. You have enough to be pulling you in all directions, so we will be helping out with that."

"You don't have to do that."

"We will though. That's what families do for each other, you need help and we'll be right by your side to take some of the load off."

"Is-"

"Don't. You have done so much for all of us, more than you should have done. All of us see you as family, before the whole you and Kore thing happened, and we are still a family and will do anything to help each other out. Let us do something to help you out."

"I'm not asking you to put yourselves in danger."

"You're not. We're offering to, not that it will be that dangerous, we've gone up against worse. Remember those sand spiders in the desert? That was a nightmare. Besides. You asked us to come here, and we came running, death bond thing aside. We'll always be her for you, Lyra. You're our friend as well as our honorary little sister."

"I'm not that much younger than you."

"Still counts." Isadora grabbed her and wrapped her in a tight hug. "I'm here if you want to talk, Lyra. Just let me know if or when and I'll hear you out. You had to listen about me vent about my crazy life, I want to return the favor."

Lyra tightened her arms. "Thanks Is."

"So, tell me about the little prince that was sitting by me all night."
