It all started when little Charlie Morningstar was 4 years old. Her mother, Lilith, walked into her husband's room where his duck inventions were in progress. Charlie was sitting on her father's lap, her eyes wide and excited whilst she watched her dad use his powers in his hands to make the ducks look so cute but it was fascinating to see.
Lilith picked her daughter up, "Come. Don't go near your father." she said, her voice a little harsh.
Charlie tilted her head. She was confused and didn't know why Lilith did not want Charlie to see her dad. "But.." her little voice said.
"No buts, young lady." She hissed, putting her daughter down in her bedroom. Charlie sat on her bed, crossing her arms. The little 4 year old was not so happy.
Charlie's lower lip started to tremble, and she just hid from her mother.
But Lilith was not having any of Charlie's temper tantrums. She sat down next to Charlie on the bed, taking her hands in hers.
"Sweetie, I know you love watching your daddy work on his inventions, but sometimes it's not safe for you to be around all those gadgets," Lilith explained, her tone softening. "I just want to keep you safe, that's all."
Charlie looked up at her mother, her big red eyes filled with confusion. "But why can't I help daddy with the ducks?" she asked, her voice filled with innocence.
Lilith sighed, brushing a stray strand of hair away from Charlie's face. "It's not that you can't help, honey. It's just that some of the inventions might be dangerous for a little girl like you. Daddy just wants to protect you, that's all."
Charlie nodded slowly, trying to understand. "Okay, mommy. I'll stay away from daddy's room," she promised, her little hand squeezing her mother's reassuringly.
Lilith smiled, feeling a wave of love for her precious daughter. "Good girl. How about we go read a story together instead?" she suggested, standing up and extending her hand to Charlie.
Charlie's face lit up with a smile, her earlier sadness forgotten. "Yes, mommy. I want to read a story," she exclaimed, taking her mother's hand and following her out of the bedroom.
It was a year later and Charlie was now 5. Lilith had walked out of Charlie's life because Lucifer kept getting in the way of his daughter's life.Lucifer walked into his daughter's bedroom. "Hey little one." Lucifer said, kneeling down beside his daughter.
Charlie was on the floor colouring in a picture. He put his hand on her back, "How's my favourite little girl?" he asked. Charlie just kept colouring in her book.
Charlie then looked up at her dad and put her crayons down. "Good! A little sad that Mommy got taken away with the Angels, but she's happy now." Charlie said to her dad Lucifer.
"I know, little one. But you know what? Now you get to spend more time with me!" Lucifer chuckled, and tickled his daughter senseless.
Charlie squealed with laughter as her father tickled her, her giggles filling the room. She squirmed and tried to push his hands away, but she couldn't help but enjoy the attention from her dad.
After a few moments, Lucifer finally relented and let Charlie catch her breath. She sat up, still giggling, and looked up at her father with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
"Daddy, can we do something fun today?" she asked, her face lighting up with excitement.
Lucifer grinned, his eyes shining with pride at his daughter's enthusiasm. "Of course we can, sweetheart. What would you like to do?" he replied, ruffling her hair affectionately.
