ARNA

He must be joking.

"Illa mama.. paravala aprom ungala ethavathu sollunga," Nithya says, trying to take Abhijay's plate.

"Nithya, nee okanthu sapdu na wash pandren," Abhijay says, and walks into the kitchen.

"Arna, neeyum okaru," Hridhan says, pulling out a chair for me and gesturing towards it.

I silently sat down, still in shock. Nithya sits next to me as Hridhan warns her.

Hridhan placed plates for both me and Nithya, despite her attempts to stop him. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. Was he really doing this ? Did Abhi actually go inside the kitchen and wash his plate ? OMG!

The family was absurdly adhering to these ridiculous rules, yet their sons were quietly breaking them without the family's knowledge. What a spectacle to witness.

Abhijay returned and took the hotbox in his hands, passing a sinister grin to Hridhan. Abhijay seemed to be on Nithya's side, while Hridhan appeared to be aligning with me.

"Dei, nee enkitta adi vanga pora... Mani 11 avanga breakfast sapdala.. ozunga koodu," Hridhan warned, his tone serious.

"Avanga na anni thana?" Abhijay asked with a teasing smile, unaware of the truth.

If only he knew.

"Abhijay," Hridhan called him sternly.

"Seri na nee anni ku serve Pannu na en nithya ku serve pandren," Abhijay replied mischievously.

"Koodra mothala," Hridhan said, snatching the hotbox from him and placing four idlies on my plate.

"Ayioo pothum pothum," I said, stopping him.

"Nala sapdu" he says, cocking his eyes and pours sambar while abhijay served nithya.

"Nithya athai lunch samaika sonnanga," I mentioned as I began eating breakfast.

"Pannidalam ka," she responded quickly, her breakfast in a hurry.

"Porumaiya sapdu di," Abhijay warned her, and she immediately slowed her pace.

I was already a slow eater. Huffs.

Hridhan and Abhijay sat opposite to us. Hridhan was directly across from me, while Abhi was opposite Nithya.

"Lunch enna venu?" Nithya asked.

"Nee senjalum okay than di, chellam," Abhijay replied in a flirtatious tone, eliciting a chuckle from me.

"Abhi," Nithya gritted her teeth, attempting to control her blush.

I glanced at Hridhan, who was silently smiling at them, before his gaze turned towards me. There was something in his eyes.

What does your gaze mean Hridhan ?

"Illa na help pandren" I said.

"Illa ka paravala irukkatum... Na pathukuren" nithya says.

After completing our breakfast, we started preparing lunch. As I mentioned before, I have no interest in cooking and I lack the skills.

There was never a season in my life where I needed to cook. I didn't have the chance to learn either. I was married at twenty, and since then, I've only faced problems.

I've spent my time trying to understand them,  attempting to solve them, failing at times, and eventually finding solutions. My ex-husband's family had maids, so I never had to worry about cooking.
