The team rushed through the portal after Mote. The cave was dark, with no sign of Mote's modern enhancements. Terrible grinding and commotion could be heard up ahead.
Entering the sanctorium, the group was taken aback by an intense struggle. Four stone guardian statues fought alongside a squad of motelings against a large war mech.
The machine launched a series of missiles, shattering three of the statues.
Mote called out to the shocked youths. "Are ya gonna just stand there with your thumbs up your asses, or are ya gonna help out?"
As he finished his "rallying call," the group acted in haste.
Alice reached out with her telekinesis, holding the mech in place. Eary encased the bot in a reflective force field. Alice released her grasp as the shield enclosed. Now free, the bot released an onslaught of missiles and bullets at the group. All of which ricochet back to the bot, destroying it.
No sooner than the bot fell to bits, Mote flew off. His moteling companions followed in confusion.
Eary shook his head. "He needs to calm down. He's too emotional. He's walking into a trap!" He said loudly, as the words burst forth, pulling his legs towards his long-time friend.
The group called out as Eary ran as fast as he could. "Mote!" He called out as the lights of the moteling bottoms started to dim and go out in the darkness.
He kept running. Searching the darkness ahead desperate for any sign of blue light. The darkness gave way to stone as Eary slammed into the wall. Hitting the dirt hard, he quickly healed his throbbing face.
A bright flash of orange, light up the cavern. Blinded, he was quickly scooped from the cavern floor. Another flash, and he was once again in the presence of his friends.
Mei quickly scolded him, "What's your problem?" Her face feirce with anger, her dark eyes were a lit with her inner fire as she raged on. "We are calling out to you, and you just keep running? Didn't we just talk about this, Eary?"
Eary sighed, "I'm sorry." Urgency filled his face as he said, "We just have to help Mote!"
Luke replied, "We will, but together." He placed his hand on the boys shoulder. Eary glanced back to see his brother's concerned expression.
Lamenting his friends concern, he submitted. The group rallied around as they moved down the dark corridor.
Eary released his white fire, illuminating the dark cavern ahead. The path would be long, he thought, as the group huddled together down the path.
As the light of the exit emerged, a strange rumbling from beneath the earth arose caution in the party.
A large boom and crash alerted the team to the path behind. Three large red lights glowed ominously down the corridor as Sakile exclaimed, "Run!"
The team broke out in full sprint. The sound of crashing rocks and pistons followed in haste with each step. As the team reached the exit, they dashed out of the way. As a large robotic monstrosity, equipped in yellow armor, burst from the exit.
Alice grabbed the bot with her mind. A bright flash of yellow blasted from the mech. Rendering Alice's hold useless.
The bot released a rolling ball of yellow that slammed into Denby. He struggled against its force. His heels pressed deep into the dirt. The light of the orb increased as it sent the young brit flying.
Another orb was sent hurtling at Eary. He quickly erected a barrier of yellow. But as before, the light of the orb increased and shattered the force field.
