Chapter 23
•Alex's P.O.V•
"This is bad." Cameron muttered. Everyone gathered in the common room, staring at the scroll with mixed expressions of concern and intrigue and fear. But mostly concern.
"That man could very well be the same guy who stole the Thunderstone." Zielo commented.
"And if he's collecting the other nine like you said, Alex, then he's gotta be planning something." Damian added.
"Well if I what magical gems that changed my element, I'd probably plan world domination too." Zack shrugged.
"Wait." Aarya spoke up. "When we read about the Thunderstone in the Encyclopedia of Magical and Mystical Things, didn't it say something about it coming from one of the most powerful objects in the realm or something?"
Damian's eyes widened. "Hang on a second!"
His eyes glowed and a scroll appeared in on the table in front of us in a puff of purple smoke. He opened it and read the writing in it. He then set it downing front of us and read out what had been written on the old parchment.
"Many are unsure as to how much power this single shard possesses or how much power it grants, but with it having come from one of the most powerful objects in all of existance, it's sure to possess unimaginable power." Damian read aloud. We all looked at each other.
"Yeah, you're right, Ari." Aaron muttered. "These stones were a part of a much stronger magic item."
"An item that the thief might be trying to put back together." Damian said grimly, the scroll disappearing as he flashed all of us a concerned look.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Think about it. The Thunderstone is an already powerful magical item in its own right. But why settle for that when it came from something even more powerful? Something that was presumably split into nine other pieces?" Damian explained. I thought for a bit.
"So you're saying that the thief is collecting the stones to-"
"Rebuild the powerful item and gain unimaginable power from it." Cameron finished.
"Exactly!" Damian nodded. Keith crossed his arms.
"Yeah, but that leaves us with another question." He said. "Why go through all the trouble?"
"Yeah, what could you possibly wanna do with all that power?" Celest asked, scratching her chin.
"And who would want it?" Zack added.
We all sat in thought for a moment. The common room started to get uncomfortably silent. Cameron shot me a glance.
"So, uh, on a completely unrelated note, how has your training with the seniors been going?" He asked, trying to break the awkward silence. "You don't talk about them much."
"Um..." The question caught me completely off guard. I scratched my head. "It's actually going pretty well. Everest helped me get in touch with my ice magic yesterday."
On cue, my hair and eyes began to change colour to a light shade of cyan, matching the type of magic that flowed through my veins at the moment. My skin also began to fade slightly, looking more pale than it did before. Cameron and the others shared expressions of surprise.
"Oh, that's cool!" Natalie said.
"Lookin' good, Al." Cameron grinned. "Did you learn anything from her?"

Fantasy"Hey Celest!" She turned to us. "Oh, hey guys! Took you long enough to get here." "So, what did you find?" Zielo asked, arms crossed. "Yeah, show us!" Aaron urged excitedly. A grin spread across Celest's face as she held out her closed hand towa...
