Chapter 8:Murder

                                    

                                          
 A month went by rather fast. The days felt shorter and eerie. The gang couldn't sleep well knowing the invasion is closer with each passing second. The substance on Josephs arm can activate at anytime making him grow even more paranoid. Josie lay in bed watching her phone. It was peaceful and quiet. Her peace was soon to be disturbed by a noise coming from downstairs. She got up and went down the staircase. She saw what was causing the noise. A tired Joseph rushing between 3 white boards. One was about the aliens. The next was about the prophecy. The final one was about something unfamiliar to Josie. "Hey Joseph what's that" she asked. "Oh that it's.." he couldn't think of what to say. "The shadow" Josie read out. She flashed back to a month ago. "Forbidden spells tap into dark forces and multiversal anchors, Ours being a place called the shadow realm to make undo-able things come to reality" Josie looked at Joseph. "We died!" Josie shouted. "DIDN'T WE!" She shouted. "Yes fine I'll admit you both kind of got absolutely destroyed in that fight with Wierzard" Joseph admitted. "Joseph what about you man!" Josie shouted. "I don't care about myself Josie!" "Haven't you noticed that!" He shouted. "You should though!" Josie shouted back. "You are corrupting yourself, not just that, killing yourself, to bring us back to life!" "Its not ok!" She continued. Joseph was trying to speak but he had no more words he was done with the conversation. His hand began to sting. The lights began to dim and flash green. James came running downstairs. "I was in a fucking game what is going on!" James shouted. "The Prophecy!?" Josie was flabbergasted. "Right now you have got to be kidding me" James chimed in. "The next was a murder on the street" Joseph said tapping his badge. The liquid metal span round him like a shadow. His visor red. Something was wrong. "Why is his suit now black and red?" James asked. "He reversed time again to revive us" Josie said disappointed. The two followed Joseph outside. Police vehicles and an ambulance lay on the street. He saw the body on the road and pulled out a spell book. "What are you doing?" Josie asked him. "I'm going to use a revive the dead temporarily spell" "That's a forbidden spell isn't it!" Josie shouted as she walked closer behind him. "Yes" Joseph replied. "What are you doing Jos" James whispered. "THIS!" She slammed Joseph head off of the table and retrieved the book. "Are you fucking NUTS!" James replied in a panic. "Have you seen Joseph RAGE!" "I can't let him use it he will be gone forever" Josie replied. Joseph arose from the ground. "Give me the book Josie!" "Fat chance!" She replied. "Don't make me have to fight you!" He retorted. "That is exactly why you can't have it" She stood her ground. "Fine, You give me no choice" He ran towards her to punch her. She blocked it but he hit her with swift kick knocking her to the pavement. She kicked him in the stomach sending him backwards. Strange essences spewed out of his back in a tentacle shape lifting him back up instantly. Josie rolled before getting up to avoid Joseph stomping on her. She launched her spike fist at him but the tentacles of mystery absorbed it. The glove appeared on his arm. "Ok that is cheating" James announced. Joseph sent an uppercut into her chest. A Red crystal flew into his mask. The liquid in the suit froze. "Josie use fire mode!" James shouted. An orange and yellow crystal flew into her mask. The liquid evaporated her head spike turning into a flaming mohawk. "Let's go spin eternally" Josie said to James. "Beat Saber reference nice!" James replied. Joseph fist froze over and made contact with Josie's face launching her back. "Maybe I shouldn't talk" She put her hands together and launched a huge magma beam. Joseph did the same launching a massive ice beam. The clash began to deteriorate the ground. A tornado of fire and ice began to form. Josie let go of the beam and quickly flew of. James fired an explosive horn into josephs tentacles and got ready to fly off with them to be ready to detonate it. "I've got you now bitch" Joseph shot ice beams into Josie's rocket boots making her fall. "Why can't we find another way to solve the mystery Joe" "There is no Joe!" The shadow roared. "I want this body permanently so I need to use that spell!" The shadow spouted. "Not gonna happen buddy!" She replied. "The shadows tentacle reached for her. KABOOM! James turned on the device blowing up the tentacles. Particles of the shadow landed on James his hands together and making his rocket boots useless for moving. More pieces landed on him going into his suits helmet. "JOSIE!" He shouted. Joseph was still not moving as if the shadow was disabled for some time. Josie flew over to James and began peeling of the shadow. "Thanks Jos" he said. "No Problem". Josie felt something grab her arms and legs. Then Joseph grabbed Josie's neck. He had gotten up. Unable to move Joseph turned her around. He iced the spike gauntlet and punched her down to the ground freezing her boots again. She plummeted into the ground causing a crater. Joseph Kicked her in the face 5 times "give me the book" Her mask broke in half. "I..." "Will never..." He kicked her in the stomach. "Give you..." He did it again. "That..." and again. She passed out and he grabbed the book. "Never stand in my way!" Joseph shouted turning around and flying off into the distance. James landed. He clicked his badge and turned into electric. BUZZ! Josie awoke instantly. "OW!" She screamed. "Sorry!" James Shouted apologetically. "Do you think he knows you ripped the pages out?" James asked. "Not in the slightest.
Joseph pulled up onto the street. everyone was still there. "alright lets use the spell" He opened the book seeing nothing where the pages where. "NO!" "FUCK!" "FUCK!!" "FUUUUUUUCK!!!" Tentacles shot out of his back killing everyone standing on the street. The bodies transformed into Alien corpses. "They were all aliens" He said to himself "Great MORE PROBLEMS!" Joseph opened the front door and fell to the ground instantly. 
He awoke in a chair with Josie and James watching Helluva Boss. "Hey guys" He said. "Finally awake Joe?" Josie asked. "Yes?" He was confused. "That's him let him out Jos" James said. She untangled his restraints. "Thanks" His phone went off. "Oh one sec" "Hello" He picked up. The voice began to talk. "ok we will handle it" The call ended. "Safecase is robbing the bank on Honey Grove" Joseph said. "Oh not that twat again!" James shouted. "Solostriker broke out of  Middlestock maximum security prison" "FOR FUCK SAKE!" Josie shouted. "Josie you fly there" "James me and you are driving to safecase and stopping that Bitch!" Joseph shouted. "I'm Just going to head up to the bathroom real quick" After he finished he washed his hands and looked into the mirror. A shadowed figure was smiling widely "I'm going to make you life hell!"
