After Hope had left, Mike went about his usual routine. Starting with Lunch with his sister.
"Why do we have to eat here?" Gabriel demanded, "We can be anywhere on the planet and you choose here?"
They were sat at the Mystic Grill, "I like the burgers!" Mike exclaimed, "And the Milkshakes"
Gabby scoffed, "Yeah I'm sure it's just about the milkshakes"
"Don't start that again little sister" Michael groaned, "I'll throw you into the sun again"
Her expression steeled, "Don't that wasn't funny, I had sunburn for hours!"
Michael was wetting himself opposite her, the table shaking from his laughter, "You looked like one of Lucy's apples"
As soon as he mentioned the name, Gabby tensed up, and silence fell.
"You never told me what ended up happening" Gabby whispered,
Mike shook his head, "I can't little sister" he sighed, "I don't think I'm ready to remember that myself"
"They still haven't all come back?" She asked concerned, "I thought the spell had worked?"
Mike shrugged, "Most are back. But there are some times I'll try and remember something... and it'll just be blank"
"We can try again... use more power?" She tried to suggest but Mike waved her off,
"It's not hindered me thus far, I doubt we need to worry about it" He shrugged, "I'm more worried about dad-forsaken lesson planning"
"I still can't believe they offered you a job and not me" Gabby sulked back into her seat pouting, "I'm just as qualified"
"Gabby I taught you everything you know" He scoffed, "How are you 'just as qualified'?"
"Because you taught me" she grinned mischievously,
The older Archangel rolled his eyes, "And you're lucky I did"
"So what's on todays agenda teach?" Gabby asked, sipping on her milkshake as she did,
"Well I've got to teach a group about healing spells" he groaned, "which I'm having to brush up on because obviously Enochian healing spells are very different to this basic sorcery"
"Booooringggg" she sang, "Can't we teach them to set each other on fire or something?"
"No Gabby we can't" Mike sighed, "Caroline doesn't want them learning offensive magic"
Gabriel leant forward, "Wait, how are they meant to defend themselves then?"
"They're not" Mike sighed,
Gabby raised an eyebrow but Mike waved her off, "If anything comes after these kids they have me there. Until I can convince Caroline that there is actually some logic to teaching offensive spells"
"And what about Hope?" She smirked,
"Hope is a.... special case" Mike revealed,
But Gabby's smirk grew wider, "I bet she is"
"Enough Gabriel" He rolled his eyes, "Her father had more enemies than any other mortal to ever live. And when he died they were passed to her"
"Sounds familiar" Gabby indicated,
Mike glared at his younger sibling before continuing, "When you add on the dangers she faces because of her links with our world, she needs to be prepared"
"So you're continuing this private tuitilage tonight?" She asked,
Mike shook his head, "Alaric needed her for a recruitment"
"He still doesn't trust you?" She sighed,
He nodded, "I don't like him"
"Judgy father figure overbearingly protective of his younger, female protegee? You two are two peas in a pod" Gabby laughed, welcoming another glare from her older brother,
"For the last time, that little thing between you and Moses wasn't going anywhere. I did you a favour" He argued, "Seriously? A burning bush?"
"It was ages ago sue me" She replied,
They were about to continue their conversation when Mike turned his head to the side, as if hearing a voice, "Hope needs me" he sighed, "You alright getting the bill?"
"I don't have any mo-" Before she could finish answering he had vanished into a plethora of blue particles,
"Asshole".
-- Line Break --
"You okay?" Mike said as soon as he appeared by Hope's side,
She jumped about a foot in the air at his sudden arrival, "Jesus, would it kill you to knock!"
"Yes, now what's wrong why did you call for me?" He asked, "I was eating"
She held up a mug, "Coco?"
Mike shook his head and laughed slightly, "You dragged me away from lunch with my sister... for coco?"
Hope nodded, "I felt bad that I was going to miss the session tonight, so I figured I'd make it up to you with Coco?"
Unable to stay mad at her, Mike accepted the mug and sat on Hope's bed, "Isn't there some sort of rule against staff and students being in the same room like this?"
Hope shrugged, "I won't tell if you don't?"
"You know I set up the telepathic link in case of emergencies, not for you to summon me when you want coco" Mike chided her,
Again, Hope just answered with a smile, "You still came"
"I thought it was an emergency!" He laughed,
"It was, I wanted Coco?" The Tribrid was grinning at her friend, knowing he wouldn't get mad at her,
Mike waved his hand and another mug of coco materialised in his hand, "Well I guess it's not the end of the world"
She smiled.
They were happy.
For now...
