The day her brother, Percy, was born was the worst day ever for four-year-old Sidney Jackson.
Not only was she no longer an only child and now had to share her mom's attention, but the young girl had wanted a little sister, not a brother, and sadly she didn't get her wish.
"Can we return him?"
Sally Jackson laughed at her daughter's request. "No sweetie, we can't return him. He's not a toy from the store."
Sidney pouted as she looked at the sleeping baby, it was his first night home and the girl was not happy about it, she had hoped he would stay at the hospital.
Sally sighed as she bent down beside the girl. "You may have wanted a sister, but I know in time the two of you will be best friends. And you will always be there for each other."
"No." The girl crossed her arms and pouted at her mother. "I don't want him."
"Well too bad, because I do," Sally said, tapping the girl's nose making her giggle. "Now, come on it's time for bed."
The girl sighed; she wasn't tired, but she knew her mom was, so with one last look at the baby, she followed her mom out of the tiny room and to her own.
