CHAPTER NINE
"WHITE TANK TOP"

KENNEDY'S rings clinked against her can of celsius as she cracked it open. 
"that's kind of hilarious, ken." courtney chuckled, stirring a bowl of ramen. "i'm sorry, but how unlucky are you that you moved into the same street as your ex?"
kennedy threw her head back as she groaned. "i honestly don't know." 
"but other than that it went well last night?" courtney asked.
kennedy awkwardly shifted, nodding her head as she took a sip of her drink. "mhm." 
courtney gave her a look. "kennedy, i know you better than you think. what happened?" 
"we had a weird... moment?" kennedy said. "we almost kissed i think?" 
"you think?" courtney raised an eyebrow. 
"we had a lot of wine and talked on my couch and we complimented each other's hair and then we were leaning in and then angela got up and left." she explained. 
courtney fought and failed to hold in a laugh. 
kennedy laughed too. "it's not funny." she tried to frown.
"i know, babe, i'm sorry." courtney's voice was high and soft. the two continued to laugh, kennedy shaking her head in confusion. 
"i just don't know what's going on." kennedy said. 
"do you think you still have feelings for her?" courtney asked.
kennedy leaned against the counter, putting her head down. "i don't think so. or at least i didn't think i did until i was six inches away from her face." 
courtney nodded and kennedy continued. "i mean, it's been a lot of years since we were together and i was very confident i had moved on."
courtney pursed her lips. "well, they're gonna start filming any second, do you still want to watch?" 
kennedy laughed. "i'm not missing sniper chess." 


kennedy and courtney got comfortable behind the camera, watching as everyone moved around. 
courtney waved to shayne, his face was serious as he and spencer tried to explain the rules of chess to arasha and angela for the fifth time. his face immediately turned into a smile as he waved back. 
kennedy watched as angela rubbed her forehead, clearly not understanding what the boys were telling her. 
angela looked up and to kennedy's surprise mouthed "help me" to her. 
kennedy laughed and angela smiled, turning back towards spencer who had been talking the whole time. 
"well, it looks like you two are okay." courtney said quietly. 
"i guess so." kennedy said, matching their hushed tone. 
"hey, do either of you want to jump in this video?" spencer asked as he walked up to the pair. "we're down a person."
