Mingi still had his hand on my back and I leaned back in my chair, soaking in his comforting touch that felt warm against my own body.
His hand traveled up to rest on my shoulder and I felt him twirling a strand of hair between his fingers.
I usually felt uncomfortable by the touch of a male but something about Mingi was different. His touch was soft and light, a relieving feeling engulfed my heart when I felt him and I was glad that he let his hand stay for the rest of the lesson. When the teacher walked out I turned to sit sideways, in Yeosangs direction but my head turned to look at Mingi.
He met my eyes and I gave him a small smile, not able to form the right words to tell him how much his touch helped me feel calm."Your welcome."
I frowned and he chuckled at my confused face "How did you know what I was thinking?" I asked and his hand grabbed the end of my hair again, holding it in between two of his fingers "I'm a mind reader." he winked and it made me chuckle, causing his smile to brighten.
"Come on. I'll treat you." The boy stood up with a wave of his hand, motioning me to follow which I did.
"We don't have enough time Mingi." I told him while trying to keep up with his large steps.
"Don't worry."
"I don't wanna get into a mother fight with a teacher." I looked up at him and he grabbed my hand "You won't. No one will dare speak to you like that again."
"It's teachers." I reasoned but Mingi didn't seem to see a difference.
"And? Me and the boy's parents are the biggest source of money for this school. We can do what we want and we can treat the how we want." He said and we stopped at the nearest vending machine "What would you like?"
"Uhm.. The oreo." I told him briefly before focusing on what he said about the teachers and his parents.
"So you guys are rich?"
"Something like that. It's all business in the world, nothing would work without enough money and our parents just know how to get it." Mingi shrugged half heartily and grabbed the oreo ice for me and a caramel for him.
"What does that mean?" I asked him.
"Don't worry your pretty little head. It's nothing." He tapped my forehead with his index finger when he said that and smiled.
"Yunho told us that some girls were bothering you." He spoke next and we began walking back to class.
"Oh. Uh.. Yeah."
"Tell us if they do something again. Even a wrong glance, and we'll take care of that. Okay?" He raised his eyebrows expecting an answer to which I nodded.
He patted my head happily and smiled, the corner of his eyes getting crinkles as his cheeks lifted. It was oddly cute and I wouldn't deny that Mingi was a very handsome boy. They all were."You don't have to do things like that, you know?" I told him, referring to the part where the boys would take care of people who do me wrong.
"Like what?"
"Approaching people who say something mean or anything." I explained and he nodded as his lips formed a small pout in acknowledgement "But that's how we work. We protect and avenge for those who are a part of us." he told me before he stopped walking and turned to me with a thoughtful frown "And it seems like that still didn't get in your head. You still haven't accepted that you're one of us."
"I-" Trying to find words, I shrugged. It was partly true. It hasn't really kicked in that I'm part of them and I guess that's also the reason that their behavior was unnecessary towards me.
"Huh." I realized "I'm sorry. I didn't notice that myself." I shook my head with a frown, confused that I couldn't point out my feelings myself.
"Don't be sorry. We understand that you need time to adjust to us." Mingi told me before leaning down to my face and whispering "But you won't regret it."
Heat rose to my cheeks at the closeness of our faces and Mingi stood up straight again, giving me air to breath again. I nodded at his words before we walked to the classroom again.
When we arrived the teacher was already there and had started his lesson. Mingi just casually opened the door and we walked in before he closed it behind me again.
The teacher has stopped and all eyes turned to us. I slightly hid behind the tall boy and the teacher opened his mouth to speak with an upset look "Mr Song. Mrs Nam. Care to explain why you're late?""We stopped by the vending machine." Mingi geld his caramel ice up and I looked down at my oreo one.
"Oh, so you think food is more important than this lesson? Mrs Nam, if I'm correct then it's just your third day here and you're already running late-"
"Ya, ya, ya. Stop right there Mr teacher." Mingis voice held a mocking undertone and the teacher looked at him "We didn't miss anything important so how about you just let us sit, continue this class and fuck off."
I never mat any student who had the nerve to say such things to a teacher and even tho it was kind of entertaining, I felt also nervous about what kind of punishment that would get us into.
I saw the teacher swallow before he motioned to the seats "Just take a seat."
"Thank you." Mingi gave him a sarcastic smile and grabbed my hand as we walked to our seats.
AN: if you haven't noticed, I'm doing a warm up chapter for all the members so it wouldn't feel like it's going too fast. They're kind of filler chapters so that the OC can bond with Ateez but above all they're also important :)
