Serafina White, daughter of the White Queen was sent to London to befriend Alice and bring her Underland. Upon arrival and befriending Alice, she had a change of heart and couldn't do it.

A few months later, tragedy struck. Charles Kingsleigh fell ill and passed. I stood outside Alice's door as she got ready for the funeral.
"Am I interrupting?" I turned around and saw Simon in the hallway.
"What are you doing here?"
"Paying me respects to the Kingsleigh family... Has Lord Berbrooke been leaving you alone?"
"Well, after the punch he received, I should think he got the message" I giggled and he chuckled.
"You are a part of the Kingsleigh family. I am sorry for your loss"
"Thank you, Lord Basset"
He grabbed my hand gently into his. It felt really nice and comforting. He smiled at me and I returned the smile.

That was until we heard Alice's bedroom door open and we quickly pulled our hands away from each other.
"I'm ready" Alice said in a low voice.
"Miss Kingsleigh. I am sorry about your Father" Simon said bowing to her.
"Thank you Lord Basset" Alice said bowing back.
I cleared my throat. "Shall we get going?" I said glancing at Simon and then at Alice.
"I shall escort you ladies" Simon said and led us outside the house to the carriage. Simon opened the door and helped us inside.
The ride was quiet. No one spoke a word.
Once we arrived Alice and I got bombarded with sympathies from everyone that attended the funeral.
I noticed Lord Berbrooke glaring at me between the crowd of people.
"I have an idea" Simon spoke. I turned around and saw him standing close to me. He grabbed my hand and we walked away from the ceremony.
"Which is?"
"With you in my arms, the world will believe I've finally found a future wife. Every mother in town will leave me alone, and every suitor will be looking at you... You must know men are always interested in a woman when they believe another to be interested as well. Me unavailable, you desirable"
"You want us to fake date?"
"Until we reach 19, then we are suited to look for marriage. What do you say?"
"If this is to work, we have to appear madly in love. It's an absurd plan"
"I find it quite brilliant. Provided you do not wish to marry me, and I do not wish to marry you, whatever should you have to lose?"
"Fine. Let's do it"
We held hands as we walked back to the ceremony. People looked at us and whispered to themselves. We took our seats and the ceremony went by in a blur.
