"How did you and Ryle meet, Amy?" I asked, and she met my eyes, seeming to get the hint.
"Oh, that is a rather interesting story. My friend had to have a surgery and Ryle was one of the doctors handling the operation. I was nervous, because the surgery happening was a bit risky and she might not have survived. After the operation was done, and she was left to regain consciousness, Ryle noticed my panicked look and came over to comfort me, assuring me she was gonna be alright. Then, I asked him out for a cup of coffee. Mainly as friends, because I was not gonna form a relationship with someone I'd just met. He seemed hesitant, so I didn't pester. But then she surprisingly called me up, telling me he'd got my number from that friend and took me up on that offer."
"She was one of the quirkiest people I had ever met," Ryle chimed in. "I wasn't sure what to think of her at first. But then after that coffee, we began chatting. Nothing much. Then, one night, at around three AM, I got a drunk message of hers. I couldn't even decipher what she was saying. After, I got a call from one of her friends who wanted me to pick her up. I wasn't sure about what to do. But then I went, and when we were in the car, she kissed me."
"I was drunk, you pisshead."
"A kiss is a kiss." I said, trying to suppress a grin. She death glared at me.
"The worst thing is, she didn't even remember that. And I didn't tell her either. So we went out as friends over and over again, until I confessed to her about the kiss. We decided we'd give it a shot. It was difficult, considering...everything. But she's made me into so much of a better person."
"You can't win me over, Ryle."
"I already have."
"He's mental, don't mind what he says."
"Her mental boyfriend."

"I hope things don't get weird because of...you know." I began. Everyone was randomly chatting, and me and Amy were up on the rooftop, wind flying into our face. The city looked amazing from here.
"Why would they?"
"I don't know."
"I don't know." she repeated.
"What do you not know?"
"Ryle told me, you know. About him and Lily."
A pang went through my chest.
"I don't know whether to trust him sometimes. It's...concerning, all of his past."
"People deserve second chances, you know. Sometimes. We don't always have to end up the same person we were once."
"But is it a risk worth taking?"
"I don't know. I try to give him a chance but I can see his anger surface up. And I'm afraid."
"Have you told him this?"
"When we decided we'd get into a relationship, he told me all about his brother, and his ex wife. Lily. He said he was a bad man. He said he would probably fail me. He said he wanted me to leave the moment he did."
"That's..." I didn't know what to say to her.
"I'm sorry, I'm putting you into an awkward situation."
"It's alright."
I smiled. She smiled back. And we didn't say anything as we leaned against the edge, glancing at the beautiful scenery around us, and not bothering to dissolve the comfortable silence between us.

*drumroll* I finally uploaded the aesthetics! To show you all my gratitude, I came up with a small surprise too.
Instead of just uploading Ryle and Amy's aesthetics, I added in Alyssa, Marshall, Josh and Theo too! And I also put together a playlist that I hope you all can add into. Even one song recommendation would be a lot. I will probably modify the playlist and upload it on Spotify soon, so you can have a go to tracklist when you read this story or vibe to the characters.
How did you like the chapter? And Ryle and Amy's backstory?
I wanted to let you know that Atlas and Amy are going to be getting a lot of scenes in the future chapters, so I hope none of you harbor any bad feelings for Amy *because I absolutely love her*
Sorry for the late update, because, as you might/might not know, my exams just finished, I graduated, and am starting high school tomorrow. A lot of pressure, honestly. That's why I hope you're patient with me as we journey through this story.
Don't forget to upvote and comment, and keep showering this story with your love <3
