"I'm left rereading old messages, sitting beneath the rubble we used to be haunted near the moon by everything we didn't become." -Always after midnight (got from Pinterest)

Charlie didn't want to admit he missed Nick; why was he still thinking about him? It's been two years since they had that nasty breakup; maybe it was because he felt guilty about how things ended between them...The young man took a deep breath, shaking his head as he made his way to the front door to the front door of his childhood home. God, it felt so good to be home.
Maybe that's why his mind kept returning to Nick; it was bound to happen at some point. This trip was about visiting his friends and family, yes that's it, nothing else. Charlie couldn't wait to be with his leading group of friends again!

Charlie was about to knock on the front door when it swung open, followed by an excited squeal by his 12-year-old brother Oliver. Charlie smiled brightly and tackled Oliver into a hug, dropping his bag. "Charlie!!" Oliver cheered.

Tori stood behind him with a fond smile, "Charles." She agreed and pulled her brother into a hug next. "Victoria." Charlie snorted in amusement. "Why were you standing there like an idiot?" Tori teased, with a hint of worry in her tone. Charlie shrugged, patting her shoulder. "Just thinking." He said.

Tori stared at him curiously, sipping her iconic glass of diet lemonade. Charlie smiled as he looked around his home; nothing had changed since he last visited. "MOM, DAD! CHARLIE IS HOME!!"Oliver called out, causing Charlie to jump in surprise.

Tori scuffed as she ruffled Oliver's hair as Jane and Julio rushed down the stairs to greet him. Jane smiled at him and embraced him, "Oh, hun, it's so good to see you!" Julio agreed and squeezed Charlie's shoulder proudly, "So glad you're home, Charlie."

"Me too! I was tired of my dorm room, especially my roommate." Charlie joked he was lucky he got a good one and got along with Matt.

"I'm just going to get settled in my room. Then, are we still going out to dinner?" Charlie wondered. Yes, going out to a restaurant made him uneasy, but his recovery was going well now, and he wanted to keep it that way. He had a bunch of coping mechanisms up his sleeve, too.

Jane beamed, "Yeah! If you're still up for it." She encouraged. Charlie nodded softly and made his way to his childhood bedroom.

As he stepped in, he braced himself.

Flashes of memories came to his mind of himself, rotting in his bed when the bullying was terrible at Truham after getting outted or during his eating disorder and self-harm recovery when he was still with Nick...Thank god he's not in that dark place anymore. He set down his bag and returned right out of his room as Julio called him down when it was time to go to dinner.

Tori nudged Charlie gently as he got downstairs since he seemed off. "You alright?" She hummed as Oliver stepped close to them.

Charlie smiled softly at his siblings as they walked to the car, "Yes," he assured, "I'm just happy to be home."
