As I watch the gears turning in the mind of my son,
I'm simultaneously happy and fearful at once,
Glad listening to his beautiful patterns of thought,
And afraid for him to relive mistakes I unwittingly taught,

I pray he's truth telling when he says he's doing fine,
I know how many times I've lied speaking the same line,
Either way he possesses great intelligence and integrity,
But this doesn't always equal to financial prosperity,

Inevitably it's his life to live my worrying won't change his future,
We're inextricably blood tied, genetically sutured,
For this I'm elated, I can't imagine any son better than him,
His mother and I both would risk life and limb,

To keep him safe ensuring he has every chance to succeed,
He's grown but I find my nights filled with prayers where I plead,
To God above to look over my boy when I can't be around,
He's a poet at heart, the whole world needs to hear his sound.
