Osiris: What-
Mark: The-
Amelia: Shit. The three were perplexed now. The creature which had no clear indication of being able to communicate was now talking to them. The creature sat down like how a dog would.
Creature: You display shock despite living in a world of far stranger anomolies than a creature that is capable of communication.
The mouth of the creature didn't seem to move as it spoke. The sound of it's voice reached the groups ears rather than emitting from within their minds, meaning it wasn't telepathic.
Amelia put her hand on Osiris' shoulder nudging him to the side. Taking the hint, Osiris moved out of the way allowing Amelia to take hold of the microphone.
Amelia: Not everyday you see a creature born and eat it's own mother, evolve and proceed to speak.
The creature remained seated as it lowered it's head and chuckled. The sound was deep and unsettling, almost like a resonating clicking. "I suppose you are right on that notion." The creature raised its head to the group again. "Then again, you've never seen anything like this. Have you?"
Like this? What was that supposed to mean? A slight second was all it took for Amelia to catch on and ask that question.
Amelia: What do you mean 'like this'? Don't you mean 'like me'?
The creature chuckled again, however it was more human. The sound was still deep and resonating, but lacked the clicking undertone to it. The creature replies. "No. This. . . This isn't me, not this puppet, and before you ask more questions. . . I understand. . . the need for knowledge in order to protect your civilization. . . your world. What you do for your race is admirable. Your gaurds and soldiers no less. Like all things however, the knowledge you seek comes at a price."
The three scientists that stood behind the glass had mixed emotions. Knowing that whatever the price, it may not be worth the knowledge this creature is offering them. Fear of the price it demands, anxiety that the knowledge will not be worth that price, and curiosity at how this will all play out. Mark leans over to Amelia's right shoulder asking if this was a good idea to proceed. Osiris was not in the slightest concerned as it seems he had figured out something the other two did not.
Amelia: What is your price.
The question was stoic in tone, hardly any emotion was present. The creature seemed unphased by such a thing as it replied.
"Knowledge."
.
.
.
What?Amelia: What do you mean your price is knowledge?
"I require information on a being you may have had contact with. This being is dangerous, even to me, and one that I have no knowledge of, as I have not left my domain for an unknown time. In return, I offer you the knowledge and solutions on how to deal with some of your. . . more difficult to deal with entities."
Amelia paused. The information he could offer would be beyond valuable, but would she be able to hold up her end by providing the information the creature desired?
Osiris: Take the deal.
Amelia and Mark turned back to look at Osiris as he said those words.
Mark: Why should we take the deal, we don't know if the information it wants is something we have.
Amelia: And if we don't have said information, we won't get what we need.
Osiris crossed his arms over his chest as his colleagues questioned his reasoning
Osiris: I understand your concerns but think about it this way. How many beings can manipulate reality on a large scale like in the mineshaft below us. Narrow that down to how many of them possess multiple forms. How many beings posses a domain that is lethal to anything that disturbs it and is unknown to us. Then think of everything we've seen so far and think 'which beings can be a threat to something capable of all that?'.
