CHAPTER SIX | SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

HIGH SCHOOL WAS SOMETHING EDEN THOUGHT WOULDN'T MATTER ANYMORE. She always thought she wouldn't be able to attend anymore out of fear that she would rip someone's head off, but Elena urged her that it would help her regain a sense of normality. Eden knew that Elena was scared of her, and Eden pretended not to know that her sister was learning how to defend herself against vampires in the woods every single morning with Alaric. She wanted Elena to feel safe, but she didn't want Elena to be scared of her.

"Here we are." Caroline began as she, Eden, Bonnie and Elena all stood in the courtyard, looking at the high school ahead. "Senior year."

Bonnie shrugged. "Anyone else think this should feel slightly more empowering?"

"Well, given everything that's happened here, I think we'd be lucky to get a break from this place." Eden rolled her eyes. She noticed her sister seemed to be struggling and so she placed her hand against her arm, supportively.

"I mean, why should I let the fact that my boyfriend is seeing the ghost of his dead girlfriends hinder this experience?" Bonnie sarcastically shrugged as she watched Eden's eyes widen fearfully. "Yeah. I brought Jeremy back to life and now he's seeing Vicki and Anna."

"Oh, my God."

"Yes!" Caroline carried on. "And, why should I let the fact that my boyfriend was turned into a Hybrid put a damper on an otherwise fabulous day?"

Eden had also come to learn that Tyler was turned into a Hybrid by Klaus using Elena's blood. Doppelgänger blood was the key for a successful Hybrid, and so Stefan had been compelled to keep Elena alive whilst Klaus was out of town.

"Today's our anniversary." Elena spoke with a monotone voice as the three other girls stopped in front of her. "Technically, Stefan and I met on the first day of school last year."

"Yeah. You win." Caroline hummed.

"Are you sure you wanna be here?"

"I have to be. I have to put it behind me. New year, new life. Besides—" Elena jumped forwards and draped her arm over Eden's shoulder. "I've got my sister back."

"Damn right you do!" Eden cheered with a smirk as they headed inside the school with smiles.

As Eden left her math class, she needed to go and place some books inside her locker. But, before she could even unlock it, her cellphone started to ring. As soon as she pulled it out of her pocket, she read the caller ID and rolled her eyes. "Ooh! Remind me to block your number now I'm back."
