[A/N]: Greetings my lovely humans, So im going to aim for an update between 1-2x a week, I can't believe I have some reads already! scary but I hope the premise is enjoyable so far I plan on really getting it rolling in the next few chapters to make things more interesting (if my brain allows me to).
-Sam-
"Hey, Sam!"
I jumped lightly at the sound of my name, eyes travelling to the source of the noise spotting an old friend Yosel leaning against a wall in the courtyard and waving at me, we had met years ago when I first came to this place bonding over our love for art, he had not changed at all since I had last saw him, his bright orange hair was still a wavy mess and his clothes were as usual wrinkled and worn he never had an ear to the ground in the world of appearance it simply passed over him. Yosel was surrounded by a few unfamiliar people who looked at me suspiciously, I walked over pulling him into a short hug.
"Hey Yosel, it's been a while" I said as I stood in front of the group, I looked at the rest of them and waved "Nice to meet you!".
A few nods and hellos travelled round the group and I smiled at them warmly before noticing that Yosel was giving me a strange look.
"Okay Yosel what's with the face".
"Isn't it obvious?" he asked looking perplexed "As much as it's great to see you how come you're randomly this far North?"
"Ah... I probably should have led with that" I said with an apologetic chuckle "Well to be honest I barely know exactly, just that my father got some invitation and wanted me to come here and impress a few people in the hopes of some alliance or something." I wished to hit myself there and then, that wasn't the best explanation of what I had been sent here for I had some form of reputation to uphold and I sounded like I had no idea what I was saying.
"Hold on, you're the Lothain rep then right?" A girl in the group jumped in. "Have you spoken to anyone here yet?"
I nodded at her quickly pulling a small piece of paper from pocket "Yes actually, I've spoken to your ambassador and briefly introduced myself to Lady Essylt" I paused to unravel the paper for a moment. "Oh and I'm supposed to be acquainted with her sons and some other people I won't bore you with"
A collective wince went round the group at the mention of the word sons, Yosel wore a tense look, chewing his lower lip. "Well I'll warn you her sons are a piece of work" he stopped to stroke his chin softly in thought "Especially her youngest, he can be... difficult".
"Yeah, I think I have heard some rumours about him from my father he told me to watch out for it" I replied before deciding to change the awkward subject. "oh you wont believe, I've already managed to cause a small kerfuffle"
Yosel snorted, facepalming dramatically "Of course you have, what did you do this time Sam?" he asked "Wait let me guess you set a prized set of robes on fire and burned your own chambers?"
"What? no!" I yelped "God Yosel I'm not that bad, no no I just walked into someone and knocked us both over... and almost broke some antique chalice" I blushed in embarrassment, I was notoriously clumsy.
The group chortled and Yosel pursed his lips fighting back a laugh. "Yeah because that is so much better".
"Who was it?" Someone chimed in curiously.
"I dont know him let me think" I froze for a second trying to remember what he looked like "Well he was sort of normal height, brown hair" i trailed off realising it wasn't helpful, he had told me his name it touched upon my tongue yet I couldn't recall it.
"Well done, you narrowed it down to about a hundred possible people here" Yosel said sacrastically patting me on the shoulder.
My eyes widened excitedly for a second. "Ive got it! he had oddly purple eyes, that's helpful right?"
