"Get along with who, Gram?" You question curiously, and just then the young blonde steps out the back door, stopping for a moment when she sees the three of you gathered in the lawn. Her mother calls her over, and you finally learn the name of the girl you've been gawking at.

"Taylor! Come over here!"

Taylor walks over as per her mothers request, and stands by her side. The two older women are staring at us, expecting something. "Go on now, get to know each other." They both urge you and Taylor.

After realizing it seemed like there wasn't anyway to avoid it, you and Taylor make an unspoken agreement to at least try, in order to get them off your backs. She speaks first.

"Hi, I'm Taylor." The blonde says in a normal tone, though you sense she's a bit unwilling. She's holding her hand out to you, and you awkwardly shake it while glancing at your grandmother, who smiles in approval.

"Hello, I'm y/n." You reply nervously, hoping your palms aren't sweating as much as you think they are. Taylor awkwardly nods, and the two of you let go. "Um, so what year are you in?" You question, trying to keep it up.

"Second year of high school, you?" Taylor seems tense, but manages to answer smoothly.

"Yeah, same.." There's a bit of awkward silence after you say that, but Andrea and Gram seem pleased now.

"So why don't you girls go run along now? We'll call you back to eat."

"Okay Gram, see you!" You say quickly and dart off, trying to avoid the awkward scenario though you doubt it'll get better when it's just you and Taylor. "Let's go..?" You call back to her, and she waves goodbye before following you.

"You're in a rush?" Taylor says, and you're not sure whether it was a comment or a question, but the two of you are walking in the general direction of the town, just following the sidewalk. You shrug, and you can smell the perfume enveloping her body in a sweet fragrance that reminds you of fruit—though you're not sure what kind. It seemed like a mix. For some odd reason, your heart skips.

She catches you staring, which you were unknowing that you were doing in the first place. You look to the floor, with your hands behind your back as you two walk in silence.

After a few minutes, she speaks up, "So, how long have you lived here..?"

When you raise your head up to meet her gaze, she's intently looking at you, almost like she's examining you.

"Oh- I uh.. I'm here every summer."

Taylor nods, and takes a breath before asking, "Do you uh go to the beach.. often?" Her blue eyes are sparkling in the daylight, matching her dress perfectly. She reminded you of the ocean, or even the sun itself.

"Huh.. me? Um, sometimes? So I guess not too much.."

Taylor nods, and the two of you are still locking eyes. You speak up again, "Do you.. want to go?" You're bracing yourself for her to say no, but to your surprise she agrees.

"Sure."

A smile creeps onto your face, and she giggles softly at that, but she's trying not to.

"Great, so.. are we just walking there?" You question, to which Taylor shrugs. "I dunno, is it near?"

You suddenly realize you're quite stupid, why would she know? She just moved here. Bashfully, you look at her again. "Well, sorta. We could probably walk. If you wanted to."

"I'm okay with that. Alright- lead the way then miss y/n!"

Taylor laughs, and so do you. The air feels a bit more comfortable now as the two of you begin to make conversation.
