Chapter 18:

(Hugo POV)

I was flying blind. I needed to get to her, so I watched and saw that they all wore the same thing. A pale green shirt with a leather strap that went diagonally across the front and wore a black cloak because of the cold. I saw a man approach the tunnel. I took out of my sword and went behind him. I used the handle and knocked him out. I dragged him back and began tying him up before I took the shirt and cloak. I attempted to change my hair and internally reminded myself to keep my head down. I hoped they wouldn't recognize me but, I needed to move quickly.

I knocked on the boulder the way I saw others had done before. I then rolled the boulder away and saw a man standing behind it. I avoided eye contact and tried to keep my eyes on the ground. "Come on through," He said. I walked through and helped move the boulder back and then began walking. Once I was far enough away that he wouldn't see me I reopened the compass and began following the arrow again. I ran up following the different tunnels until I reached an opening.

I saw the estate that I had seen in the air on my horse. I saw people walking in and out of the estate. I knew that Sofia was inside I just needed to keep my head down and reach her soon. I saw men loading crates into the back entrance and went over toward them and grabbed a crate. I walked to the back entrance and saw a man with a clipboard I walked up looking down at my crate, "What do you have?" He asked. I looked at the side of the crate and grumbled, "Uhh." He then looked up and looked at the side of the crate, "Vegetable crate #5, move it."

I walked in and placed the crate down with the other. I then began to walk and went into the hallways, occasionally glancing over at the compass making sure that I didn't show it to anyone else. I went to a flight of stairs and began climbing up before I saw three doors. I opened two of them but nothing was there and then I looked toward the small locked door in the middle. The compass kept pointing towards. I listened at the door trying to hear Sofia on the other side but I couldn't hear anything. The fact I couldn't hear anything was scarier because I had no idea what was going on on the other side other than that Sofia wasn't fighting back or talking. The door knob began to jiggle from the other side.

(Sofia POV)

The cup was pressed up to my lips and I kept trying to turn away. She grabbed my face and forced my lips to purse and I felt the liquid forcibly enter my mouth. I held it in my mouth as long as I could but I began to feel some drops drip down my throat before more came rushing down. I jerked my face away causing the cup to fall onto my lap and break. I spit out the remaining liquid in my mouth. Countess Cunningham smiled to herself, "You will thank me one day." She turned to walk away, "Why are you doing this to me? To my family? To my baby?"

She turned towards me, "Because when you are a mother you do everything in your power to make sure your kids will never suffer because of you. You make sure they have the best. Eliza will be queen and she will live a comfortable life with a prominent title and respect. It will not be stolen her like it was for me." I looked up toward the sky, "You can't steal something that was never yours. You may have been engaged to King Garrick but, you never had his heart. I am sorry that you had to suffer so much but, what do you expect to happen now. Hugo will annul our marriage and marry your daughter so they both can be miserable for the rest of their lives. You can force a crown on her head and you can claim I have not right because of the blood in my veins but, you will be stealing my life for her not the other way around."

She turned towards me, "You have no right, you are not a member of the nobility," she started, "And neither are you anymore. Your revenge took that away from you and your daughter. Do you really want to see what else it will cost her? Her freedom? Her happiness? Her life?" She came up to me, "How dare you speak to me that way?" She said coming closer to me. I looked her dead in the eyes, "What else can you take away from me? My love? My life? None of that will make you or your daughter happy."

I then suddenly felt pain rush to my stomach as I let out painful noises. I could feel the pain attacking my baby and I kept trying to move my hands to help the pain but, the cuts on my hands made the pain burn even more. Countess Cunningham saw this and turned to walk away, "Well Commoner, you truly know nothing about me. Taking everything away from you will make me extremely happy." She left the room leaving me in pain. I heard the door lock and I could feel tears streaming down my face as I begged for my baby to stay with me.

(Hugo POV)

I hid in the closet next to the locked room and saw Countess Cunningham lock the door behind her and watched as she hid the key behind one of the stones. I waited until I could no longer hear her footsteps on the stairs. I went and grabbed the stone and got the key. I went to the door and unlocked it. I opened the door and saw Sofia crying in there, pulling against the restraints. I saw blood under her hands and I could tell that she was in pain.

I ran over to her, "Sofia." She looked up at me and continued to cry. I began untying her hands and saw the cuts on her hands but she still wasn't saying anything. "Sofia, we are getting you two out of here," I said looking down at her stomach. She shook her head, "It is too late. It's just me now." I fumbled back when she said that as she brought her hands trying to clutch onto her stomach as if she was trying to hold the baby in even though it was clear from what she said that the baby was gone.

I would grieve this later but right now I needed to focus on getting my wife out of there and bringing her back home. "Sofia, are there any other ties?" She looked down at her feet and I saw her ankles tied to the chair. I quickly cut off the knots and had her stand up. She began to bobble and I held onto her to keep her from falling. "I did everything I could to keep her safe," I heard her whisper into my ear, "I didn't know she was here when I talked to the baby. I didn't know..." She cried. I rubbed circles quietly into her back.

I looked around the room quickly, "Sofia we will talk about this later but, right now we need to leave." She nodded and I quickly wrapped her hands up. I would let a doctor check her out later. Her eyes began to flutter, "Sofia please stay with me for a little longer." She nodded and we left the room and began running down the stairs. We reached the bottom of the stairs and I maneuvered through the hallways trying to avoid other people seeing us particularly the Cunningham Family. I looked back toward Sofia, she was fading and looked solemn but she she continued keeping up. We made our way back to the kitchen and knew this was the point that things were getting more difficult.

The men were shuffling in and out carrying crates but they would notice Sofia. I turned toward her, "Sofia we are going to make our way to the stable and take one of their flying horses over the mountains to Electra. She is tied to a tree beyond the mountains. After we are going to be riding on the ground until we get far enough away then we will fly back alright." She nodded. I left her hidden for a moment and went into the kitchen. I unsheathed my sword and used the helm to knock them unconscious. When the room was clear i went back to Sofia and took her hand and together we ran to the stables.

I opened the stable doors and ran toward the horses. I took one out of the stables when I heard the door close "Going somewhere Commoner". I turned back and saw someone familiar, "Ah Prince Hugo how wonderful of you to join us."
