Aerea was standing in a, what looked like a very old house.

"What the -" Aerea started to say but was cut off by howling in the room in front of her.

"Oh hell no." Aerea said, running the opposite direction down the stairs.

The end of the staircase led through a tunnel.

Aerea hesitated for a moment, and then she heard the beast from upstairs howl again.

"Better this than dying." She muttered to herself, even though she didn't know what the beast was.

She walked through the tunnel for what felt like forever.

Finally, she saw a dim light coming from the end.

"Finally." Aerea said, relieved.

But right before Aerea could leave the tunnel, something jumped onto her back.

Aerea screamed. She turned her body, trying to get the beast off, but it didn't.

With her back on the ground, she now saw what the beast was. A black dog.

Aerea wanted to sigh in relief when another howl came from outside the tunnel.

The dog gave Aerea one last glance, then ran out of the tunnel after the howl.

Out of curiosity, Aerea followed the dog out of the tunnel.

But instead of being met with whatever the dog was chasing, she was met with a dementor.

Before Aerea even had the chance to scream, the dementor started sucking out her soul.

The last thing Aerea remembered was falling on the ground.

Aerea woke up gasping for air. She looked around her surroundings, assuring herself that everything was real.

She got out of bed and went to the bathroom to splash some water on her face.

"It was just a stupid dream. Nothing more." Aerea kept reassuring herself.

When she came out of the bathroom, she saw that the sun was already coming up.

"No point in going back to bed, I guess." Aerea muttered to herself.

She got changed into her robes and went down to the common room, and sat down on the couch.

Aerea opened her book and continued in where she had left off.

Chapter 24. The downfall of the Macklyn and Barlaeris families.

The last known generation of these families ended in the 1940s after a prophecy came out regarding the youngest of either of the families.

We do not know of the prophecy precisely. All we know is it drove the witches and wizards who didn't want them in power anymore to kill every last living person of the families.

Some believe that one or more people somehow escaped the massacre and continued living.

But even if these beliefs are true, it wouldn't be possible to see as none of the dragons have been controllable ever since the families' downfall.
