"It's now or never, every time the creature bangs against the shield it weakens it." I sign before putting my own blood on the clothes as she went outside to do her own walk around. The growling got louder as the banging increased as well. She walked back in while bandaging her injured hand but I gave her a slight head shake telling her not to as there was something else we had to do.
She tilted her head in question as I grabbed a couple of water bottles and chucked one at her.
Didn't take long before she picked up what I was putting down.

"Ugh! This is so gross!" Tanya exclaimed as she squeezed some blood into the bottle I gave her and then replaced that dressing she had started. I did the same, shook both bottles, poked a whole in the lids and attached them to the robots right way up.

"Alright we have to time this perfectly! Are you ready?" I asked as I placed the robots down at the back exit of the tent, before turning to face Tanya who was getting into position with her remote out in front of her, she gave a nod signalling that she was ready. I went to the front of the tent, I closed the fabric that acted as door behind me but didn't zip it up. The creature now crazed and watching my every move with hunger in its eyes. I moved, it moved.

"Tanya!" I called out as I shifted to the side of the tent.

"Ready when you are!" She called back, the creature growling at every word we released, pawing at the field in an attempt to get to me. I had made my way to the back of the tent where I could see the others of its kind had moved closer, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce but even from back here I could see they were becoming as impatient as their friend. But they weren't the only ones waiting for the perfect moment.

And just as that thought entered my mind, it struck. A lightning bolt hit a section of the forest not to far from us and with the accompanying thunder was the perfect distraction.

"Now!" I yelled as I raced inside the tent at the same time as Tanya released her robot. I released mine a second later and heard the creatures roar out a deafening howl and then the loud padding of paws against the wet ground filled our ears. We waited a few seconds before chancing a look outside. The robots were programmed to turn the bottles over after a minute and release our blood mixed with water onto the ground to keep the scent going.

From what we could see they were gone, without taken time to think any further, we grabbed our makeshift stun weapons made from the spare projectors and took off in the opposite direction.

We ran and didn't look back, jumping over branches, sliding through muddy puddles, we ran and ran not caring that the rain was blurring our vision, not taking notice of the branches that flung at our faces and scrapped across our skin. Our focus was on getting to that jeep wherever it may be.

I had set my watch to ding at every km we passed and we had just made it past our first one. I helped Tanya jump a large tree trunk, that looked like it had fallen in the storm and then jumped down from it myself. As my boots hit the ground, I heard a loud echoing roar, I guess they found the robots. But we couldn't think about that, we had to keep moving. We ran for another few minutes before coming to a stop. No!

"Tyre tracks, no... Jeep.." Tanya puffed out as she grabbed my arm in an attempt to steady herself. I was caught between being relieved that someone was alive to get those men out of here and devastated that we had no way out ourselves. The trek back to camp was at least at least a 2-3 hour run and that's only if we don't have to stop, I ran my fingers through my hair as my ponytail had fallen out and it now hung loosely at my shoulders. I sucked in deep breaths and released the same to stop myself from hyperventilating.

"We have to keep going... those creatures won't be far behind us if they're not already here. WE HAVE TO GO!." I stated telling her something she already knew. As I gripped her arm, I signalled her with a nod to get ready, which she sent back to me as we breathed in deep and slow, tightening our grips on the stun weapons that had yet to leave our hands and with one last nod to each other, we took off once again, this time prepared for an even longer run.
