Kakashi laid awake in his bed, hands behind his head as he stared endlessly at the ceiling. The moonlight shined through his curtain and window, providing him the only light of the world outside his humble abode of a home. It was the night before the Chunin Exams, he had told his students to get a good nights rest to prepare for their early departure for the first section of the exam.
But, it wasn't any feeling of worry that bothering him, causing him to stay up. He was more than a hundred percent that his students would easily go through the exam. Teamwork may be loose, but it was fine. Rather, an incident a few days ago stuck in his mind. Kakashi's brows tightened at the thought.
"Kakashi Hatake," Spoke a man in white robes, a red symbol on the middle of his hat, "I have a special mission that I'm going to assign to you, and I'm sure you will be able to handle it."
Kakashi stood silently, waiting for the list of instructions. Though, a mission right before the Chunin Exams? Kakashi wasn't too sure of why the Hokage called him over to the office at such a timing. The male showed no complaints. He accepted whatever was given to him.
"I'm sure you are well known of Y/n L/n, correct?"
Kakashi raised a brow at the name. "Yes.." He replied.
No other ninja stood in the office, just the famous Copy Ninja and the third Hokage. Hiruzen motioned for Kakashi to come close. Kakashi took a step forward and looked down at the desk, a paper file with Y/n's name on it was given to him.
"I'm not sure if she's been fully honest with you." Hiruzen began, clasping his hands as he watched Kakashi open the file.
There, a single white piece of paper showcased a photo of Y/n, her face neutral compared to her usual smile that was practically engraved in Kakashi's mind. Though, there was something really odd about her information page. There was a lot of blacked out information other than her birthdate and characteristics. Her birthplace, last name, and information regarding her parents were all crossed out and hidden behind a black ink. Kakashi looked at it for a second, noticing a scribble above her last name that replaced the blacked out last name to "L/n."
"What is this about?" Kakashi questioned, confused at what was being presented. Usually, he was straight to point on information when given to him. But for once, he really didn't know anything regarding the true face of Y/n L/n.
"I'm sure you have probably figured out that she is not originally from Konoha." Hiruzen explained, Kakashi giving his full ear. "I will explain."
