The taxi stopped right in front of Fabiha's home. She paid him and rushed inside her home.
The door opened as she hit the bell. Her mother opened the door, Fabiha embraced her in a tight hug. Due to the warmth of her mother's embrace she couldn't control herself anymore and broke into tears.
Seeing her like this her mother panicked and started enquiring,"What happened, ma?" With a hint of concern in her voice.
She didn't say a word as she was wailing. "Ok, calm down. Come inside." her mother offered and took her inside the house.
The mother and daughter are standing right in front of Fabiha's room. Her mother was about to take her inside when she said, "I wanna stay alone for some time." Her mother was about to refuse when she added,"Please. Let me" her mother understood and gave her some time.
Fabiha went inside the room and locked the room from inside. She threw her dupatta (scarf) on the bed and went straightly to the washroom. There, she opened the shower and sat on the floor. The water was so cold that it felt like thousands of needles were pricking her skin. Yet, she doesn't feel a thing. As she's already in pain.
A pain of betrayal.
The cold water made her cheeks and fingers feel like they are burning. She started whimpering. She cried her whole heart out. After a while, she stood up. "That bastard doesn't deserve you, Fabiha. He is not worth of you wails. Be the strong girl you have always been. No one can break you this. Remember?" She told herself and took a deep breath.
"From now on, you will only focus on yourself and no one else! Be the strong girl you have always been. That guy. You won't ever go back to him. He is not worth of your presence in his life. Just remember that from now on, it is just you in your life. Okay?" She added.
She changed her clothes and unlocked her room. She went towards the dinning area as she frozed in her place. She was taken aback with the presence of the man she left. She took a deep breath and took control over her. She won't let her tears for a man that doesn't need her. "Ammu, serve me my lunch. I am hungry." She declared.
Her mother rushed into the kitchen to feed her.
"Fabiha, come ma and take a seat." Her mother said. Fabiha made herself to the dinning table. When she was about to settle "Zayaan, come son. Have your lunch. You might be really hungry." Her mother offered. But Zayaan refused as he didn't want to hurt her more.
After staying a while, Zayaan took his leave as he noticed that Fabiha doesn't want to see his face.
Fabiha is now resting in her room, when her mother came to her with a tray. She leaned on the headboard as her mother sat beside her. Her mother offered her a cup of Cha (tea in Bengali). She gladly took the cha. They were both enjoying their cha when her asked, "Can you tell me now what exactly happened to you?" In a calm voice.
"When's baba coming home?" Fabiha asked. "Don't try to change the topic. Answer my question first." Her mother demanded. "I will you everything. At first let baba come back. Ok?" Fabiha said with a calm look on her face.
As a psychology student, it's kinda easy for her to take control over her feelings. Yet she's trying her best to control the inner feeling of hers.
Evening
To control her feelings, took a sleeping pill as it will help her to sleep and she will be able to refresh herself.
"Fabiha, ma wake up. Your baba wants to talk to you. Wake up." Her mother woke her up softly. Soon she woke up and freshen up herself.
In the living room
"Baba, you have called for me?" Fabiha asks as she entered the room. "Yes, ma. Your mother have told me what happened today. So I call for you to know what exactly happened to you that made you this sad?" Her father asks.
"I want a divorce." Fabiha claimed as she settles herself in front of her father. Everyone present in the room were shocked. "What?!" Her grandma screamed. "In our family no girl has ever been divorced! How could you say that thing when we, your grandma and grandpa are alive?!" The old lady stated.
"I have never thought that you'd bring such disgrace to our family, Fabiha." Her grandpa stated. "What will the society say when you're divorced?" Her grandma said. "I am really disappointed, Fabiha." Her grandma added.
When her grandparents were blaming her, only then her father asked,"May I know the reason behind this tough decision of yours?" In a calm voice.
She was silent. After a while she narrated the whole situation of today's. Hearing the whole story her mother came forward to embrace her in a tight hug. Her mother started consoling her. "It's ok. Everything will be fine." Her mother said. Her brows furrowed, "Will be fine? What do you mean?" She screamed.
"Enough!" Her father roared and everyone present in the room become silent. He stood up from his seat ," No one is getting divorced. And that's final." He declared. Before he left the room,"You can stay here as many days you want, but when Zayaan will come to take you back and I will feel that it is appropriate, you will have to go back to your place. No more discussion on this topic." He added.
Her grandparents were really satisfied with the decision same goes for her mother.
She slowly went to her room and broke into tears as no one is on her side. In this battle, she is all alone.
