Kelly's Pov
With that, we settled into a comfortable silence, the weight of our unspoken words hanging in the air between us. It wasn't a resolution, not by a long shot, but it was a start. A glimmer of hope in the darkness that threatened to consume us.
As I drifted off to sleep, I knew that our journey was far from over. But with Buck by my side, I felt a renewed sense of determination and optimism for the future. Whatever lay ahead, I was ready to face it together, hand in hand, heart to heart.

Buck's Pov
A few months had passed since the accident, and as I reflected on the journey I had been on, I couldn't help but marvel at how far I had come.
The road to recovery had been long and arduous, filled with setbacks and challenges that tested my resolve at every turn. There were days when the pain seemed unbearable, when I wondered if I would ever be able to walk again. But through it all, I had persevered, fueled by a stubborn determination to reclaim my life and my independence.
With each passing day, I had made progress, slowly but surely regaining strength and mobility. Physical therapy had become a regular part of my routine, and while it was often grueling and exhausting, I knew that it was necessary if I ever hoped to fully recover.
But it wasn't just my body that was healing; it was my spirit as well. The love and support of my friends and family had been a constant source of encouragement, lifting me up when I felt like I couldn't go on.
And then there was Kelly. He had been my rock throughout this entire ordeal, standing by my side through the darkest of days and never once wavering in his belief in me. His love had been a beacon of light in the darkness, guiding me through the toughest moments with a strength and resilience that I could only marvel at. As I looked at him sleeping peacefully beside me, I felt a surge of gratitude welling up within me. Despite everything we had been through, he was still here, still by my side, still loving me unconditionally.

The day had finally arrived – the day the cast would come off. I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement mixed with apprehension as I sat in the doctor's office, waiting for the moment I had been eagerly anticipating for weeks.
As the doctor entered the room, I held my breath, my heart pounding with anticipation. With practiced precision, he began to carefully remove the cast, peeling away the layers of plaster and gauze until my leg was finally revealed.
I couldn't help but marvel at the sight of my leg, free from the confines of the cast for the first time in what felt like an eternity. It was still swollen and bruised, but the progress I had made was undeniable.
As the doctor examined my leg, he nodded in approval, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "You're healing nicely, Buck," he remarked, his voice filled with encouragement. "But there's still one more surgery we need to do to ensure everything heals properly."
I felt a surge of disappointment wash over me at the thought of another surgery, but I knew it was necessary if I ever hoped to fully recover. With a sense of resignation, I nodded my agreement, steeling myself for the ordeal ahead.
I set up the surgery for tomorrow to get it out of the way so that I can get back onto my feet faster.
