Chapter nine: warning

                                    

                                          

‘’I’ve been hearings some unsavoury rumours about their company. So, I wanted to tell you to be careful in having dealings with them.’’ Mr Anunobi sat with both arms placed gently on the armchairs. He looked very comfortable and calm as he spoke. If he was bothered by what decision Bolaji might make, he wasn’t showing it.
‘’Hmm…?’’ Bolaji eyebrows rise up as he scrunched his face up. That was not something he was expecting to hear. Keeping his voice levelled, Bolaji asked. ‘’What sort of rumours are those?’’
‘’Hah, I‘ve just heard a little something about how there company might not be doing so well now. Their stock is also not doing so well at the moment. ’’ Mr Anunobi said waving his hands in the air. He was staring at him dead in the eyes as he was talking. ‘’I don’t know the details, though.’’
Bolaji tried to act like what he said didn’t bother him. He calmed his thought and straightened his expression. ‘’Thank you for that. I’ll be sure to look into it and put it into consideration.’’ He is going to look into what he just said. In fact, the information he just got might explain the slight strangeness about this whole thing. 
‘’Don’t worry, you are a smart man. I trust your decisions and will be in support of them.’’ Mr Anunobi said face lifted up into a smile. ‘’ That’s all I want to talk about. I’ll be going now.’’
Mr Anunobi pushed the chair back as he stood up. ‘’See you later then.’’ He said.
‘’Thank you.’’ Bolaji said shaking Mr Anunobi’s hand firmly.
‘’It is nothing.’’ Mr Anunobi waved his hands dismissively. He bobbed his heads and headed out.
No sooner had the door closed behind him, and he was about to process what he just, did the door reopen and Mr Segun walked in. The man seemed to always know when he had things to confide in him with. 
Mr Segun was dressed in a black business suit. He crossed the room and sat down where Mr Anunobi had just vacated.
‘’I saw Mr Anunobi on my way in. Was that about business?’’ Mr Segun asked.
‘’Hmm… I guess you could say that.’’ Bolaji scratched his beard. ‘’ It was more on the line of him bringing my attention to something I should be cautious of.’’
Mr Segun chuckled when he said that. 
‘’What?’’ Bolaji asked curiously. He put his hand down and narrowed his eyes. There was confused expression on his face, he didn’t know why Mr Segun was chuckling.
‘’Ahh… it’s just the irony of the situation…’’ Mr Segun said as his chuckle faded out.
He waited patiently for him to finish his thought. Although that patience was fading out with each second.
‘’I’ve always wanted to talk to you about that man…’’ A depth appeared in his voice. He furrowed his brows as he got all serious. ‘’…be careful and cautious of him, I don’t think you should trust him.’’ 
‘’Why do you say that?’’ Bolaji asked in a deep voice.
‘’I’ve him for a long time and he has always struck me as a slimy and dangerous person. I definitely don’t trust him and I don’t think you should, too.’’ Mr Segun stopped and didn’t look like he wants to elaborate any further.
Bolaji wouldn’t say he trusted Mr Anunobi, but he didn’t distrust him too. After all, he hasn’t done anything noticeable to warrant that. He didn’t oppose him becoming the Executive Director too and he always seem to support his decisions. But there had to be a reason why Mr Segun said what he said. Mr Segun was like a mentor to him, he is going to take his word to heart.
