Karou's POV

I had no idea what Haruhi had meant by that. What kind of life had she lived? She seemed happy enough until today, And I couldn't ever imagine her being unhappy. I shook my head as I followed Haruhi into her apartment. Ranka greeted us, smiling as ever. Haruhi and I placed the girl down on the nearby sofa. "It's so nice of you to finally return home, Haruhi~" Ranka said, a hint of sarcasm and annoyance in his voice as he glanced over at me. "And you brought one of the Hitachiin twins, too!" He glanced down at F/N, his face flashing a look of concern. "I'll go prepare some tea, Haruhi, it looks like F/N might really need it" He upped and left, a smile still on his face.

I looked over at Haruhi. "Mind telling me what you meant back while we were walking here?" She sat on the floor, sighing. "I think it would honestly be better if she told you." She said, looking up at me with a worried face. I felt a deep breath leave me as concern filled my heart and body. Why did I even care so much? She's just some commoner I barely know. I shook it off. Grabbing a piece of paper, I quickly jotted down my number and handed it Haruhi. "I know you already have my number, so just give this to her when she wakes up so that I can at least make sure she's okay. Can't have our new play thing getting broken already." I commented coldly. Haruhi stood up with a jolt. "You shouldn't talk about her like that. She's not like me. She's been through things I wouldn't wish on anyone else." There was a fire in her voice as her fists balled up. She looked up at me. "You shouldn't go around assuming things about people you know so little about, Karou, and you shouldn't use people that have been broken and torn down so much through their lives." she said, that anger still resonating in her tone. My eyes widened before I turned, my face seemingly cold. "Just have her call me."

I walked out of the apartment, my heart aching for some unknown reason. I sighed and let it be, walking back to my home. Once I was home I stormed up to Hikaru's room with an undisclosed anger.  I walked into his-- our room and shut the door. "Oh, so you're back." is all he said while still looking at his phone. "What did you do?" I asked, my mind bent on getting answers. "What are you talking about?" he questioned, still looking a his phone. In one feral swoop, I knocked the phone out of his hand, grabbing his shirt, hovering about him. "What did you do to F/N?" I asked again, the anger apparent in my voice.

Guilt flashed across his face, his eyes shifting away from mine. He sighed and told me everything. My eyes widened and I let him go, my heart feeling like it was going to break.
