8. "I'm half naked."

Start from the beginning

"Look at me." He whispered as if he read my mind, making me smile.

I look at him, my chest tightening at the sight of him. "What about you? Tell me about what your dreams were and how you ended up becoming an idol?" He laughed softly, still rubbing my knuckles with his thumb.

"Don't you know my story? I thought you knew?" Shaking my head, he leaned back slightly.

"What? I'm going to be honest, Elle. I thought you were a fan. This is kind of shocking." He smiles, shaking his head. I drank my water with my other hand.

"I mean, I knew Stray kids. And I knew you were eight, but I don't know the details. I knew names and some songs, but not all."

"And you danced to the few songs you knew? So you only knew four songs?" He asked, sounding incredulous, and I laughed out loud.

"You stalked our account?" I asked because there was no way he knew exactly how many of his songs we danced to. He let go of my hand and crossed his arms, looking at me in disbelief. As if I stalked HIS account. Which, yes, I did, but that's not now's problem.

"I won't answer without my lawyer." He said this as I took another sip, making me choke. I started coughing, and he sat there, biting on his lips to hold his laughter in. I wished I had a napkin to throw at him as I wiped my mouth with my sleeve.

"Ass," I coughed, which caused him to laugh louder.

"Language please. I'm an idol." I flipped him off before hiding my face, laughing.

We skipped dessert and decided to go on a stroll. So we put our masks back on and left, with him holding my hand in a firm grip as if not to lose me.

"So Elle. You don't know me?" He asked, his voice muffled by the mask. I leaned in closer to hear properly, but my arm ended up pressing against him, making him ask,

"You cold?" My stomach dropped, and I blushed.

"No, I just want to hear you better." He nodded as we walked through the city. The lights were sparkling in the night, and it all looked so beautiful.

Suddenly, he let go of my hand and wrapped it around me, pressing me against him. His fingers were gently rubbing where they lay on my shoulder. He was a head taller than me, so I reached just below his shoulders. He lowered his head, whispering,

"Can you hear me now?"

I could. But barely over my racing heart and ringing ears. I blushed and nodded, scared to use my voice for how it might sound. A few seconds later, he asked again about what I knew, so I cleared my throat.

"Well... I knew your names because if we learn a dance, we decide who gets which parts, you know. I knew your names and the four songs that we danced to. But remember." I said it as he was about to say something. "We only recently got into kpop. And we only dance."

Feeling his shoulders move and his chest vibrate with laughter filled me with warmth.

"Do you at least have it in your playlist? Like, is it good?" He asked, his voice suddenly unsure. As if he's insecure. So I pulled out my phone and showed him my playlists. Which now has a lot of their songs. And by a lot, I mean at least 50. After we spoke, I went and googled him as well as the group, and I ended up liking all the songs I had so far listened to.

"No way. You said you only knew four." He shook his head as we stopped, and he turned me to look at him.

"I did. And I don't know about you and your story, but after we spoke at the bar, I did stalk a bit, and I have to admit. I fell in love with your songs. You guys are so good." I smiled, taking in his brown eyes. He was so beautiful, even with a mask on.

"So, what's your favorite?" He asked, taking a step closer so I'd hear him. But now we were inches from each other. If I move slightly forward, we'll be toe to toe. I looked down at our feet.

"I only know a few, as you saw. So I'd say my favorite is Cover Me and Thunderous." I look up at his wide eyes.

"What?" I laughed, and he shook his head.

"Nothing. Let's go." He pulled me to his side again, wrapping his arms around my shoulders again.

"It's just in Thunderous; I'm half naked." I laughed out loud and shook my head.

"I'm aware, yes." He shook with laughter as well.

When we got to my house, he opened the door for me and walked me to the front door. He lifted his hand slowly, as if asking permission, and when I didn't move away, he cupped my cheek and brushed it with his thumb.

"Thank you for tonight. I had a lot of fun." He smiled down at me, our masks off now. Blushing, I leaned into his touch and closed my eyes for a second. Opening them, I met his stare.

"I enjoyed tonight so much. Do you want to do this again?" I asked, suddenly scared he'd say no. He leaned down as I looked up and smiled. Our noses are almost touching.

"Definitely. I'll call you."

"Okay. Bye Chris."

Slowly, he leaned further down and kissed my forehead. Closing my eyes, I breathed in his scent. He smelt like how I'd imagine a campfire at the beach to smell. Comforting. He pressed his forehead against mine for a second before whispering goodbye and leaving.

I went in when he drove off and collapsed to the ground as Madi and Vic came running to me. And once again, I just fed them the crumbs. I keep it all to myself.
