Twelve days later both Megan and Mike were well on their way to recovery. Mike was being discharged soon and in the meantime, Megan had split her time between staying with Angus and Mario. When she wasn't at one of their places, she was at the hospital with her dad. It was mid-afternoon on a surprisingly warm sunny day in L.A. The teen was sitting outside getting some fresh air with Angus and Mario who were waiting for an ambulance to pull up. Surprisingly for once it was a fairly slow day at Angels Memorial due to roadworks nearby that meant ambulances were being diverted a lot. She was listening to something Mario was telling Angus when she noticed a cab pull up and a familiar face climb out. It didn't take long for that familiar face to spot Megan either.
"I'll be right back." She announced as she jumped off the wall she was sitting on. Angus and Mario looked at who she was walking towards.
It was a gloomy day in Austin. Jason had been with Avery for the last few hours chilling at her house. Avery looked up from the book she was reading when Jason suddenly stood up.
"I have to go." He announced as he flung on his jacket and grabbed his keys from the table. Avery quickly followed him as he made a dash for the front door.
"Where are you going?" Avery called out after her best friend as he ran outside into the rain.
"To bring Megan, the person I love, home where she belongs." Jason shouted back as he paused near his car. Avery smiled.
"Bring our girl home." She nodded happily. Jason smiled back as he quickly jumped into his car, partially to get going as soon as possible and partially to get out of the pouring rain. Avery watched as he drove off down the street.
"Hi." Jason smiled a little as he saw her.
"Hey." Megan replied, stuffing her hands in her pockets awkwardly.
"How are you? How's your dad?" Jason asked her first.
"I'm okay. Dads good, he should be getting discharged today." Megan explained.
"Good, that's good." Jason nodded. There was a minute of silence.
"I ermm, I needed to talk to you." Jason told her. Megan stayed quiet so he continued.
"I miss you...a lot-" Jason started to say but Megan cut him off suddenly.
"I overreacted and I was wrong." Megan told Jason. He stood there a little stunned. She had had a lot of time to think about things during her time in L.A and being with Jason had been one of those things. She had realized pretty quickly that breaking up with Jason had been a mistake and she had only done it because she was scared of the unknown. But looking at it now, the unknown, with Jason that is, is what made her heart flutter.
"What?" What she had said had completely thrown him.
"I've never had anything like us before. I've never met anyone like you. All of this, everything, not just you, has been a lot. Mike, the shooting, going back in rehab, the crash, us, everything. It's seriously messed with my head. I wasn't thinking and I overreacted. I was scared..." By the time she stopped talking she was close to tears. She glanced back towards her uncle and friend before looking back to Jason.
"...and when I'm scared I run, but I don't have to do that anymore. I have a family...I have you. I'm sorry." Megan told him seriously. She didn't give him a chance to respond as she kept talking.
"But all of this has made me think about everything. Think about you...about us. I love you. You get me. You get everything about me and you still love me. I'm sorry I overreacted. And I'm sorry you have to deal with my mood swings and me being a complete and utter dumbass, and I'm sorry that you got involved in all of my drama but I'm not sorry for falling in love with you, because you're one of the best things that's ever happened to me." Megan said, looking him in the eyes.
"You are a dumbass..." Jason told her. Megan didn't know how to respond as Jason kept talking.
"But you're my dumbass." He smirked, making Megan giggle and smile.
"And I'm not sorry for falling in love with you either because you're fucking amazing. I was scared to fall in love because my life has been anything but easy. But everything about you amazes me and I don't want anything to change between us because I love you. I want to be with you...and your mood swings." He grinned. Megan couldn't help but giggle. Jason walked closer to her.
"Never, ever, apologise for being you Megan. Because you're a badass and you're fucking amazing." Jason told her as he placed his hands on her cheeks and looked her in the eyes. He leant down and kissed her. Megan placed her hands over his. After the kiss he rested his forehead against hers.
"I love you too, you crazy weirdo." Jason whispered. Megan laughed and moved her arms around his waist to hug him tightly.
"You realise Angus and Mario watched every second of that right?" Megan laughed as they pulled apart.
"Uh-huh." Jason nodded as he slipped his hand comfortably into hers.
"Do you wanna go for a walk?" Jason asked her.
"Yeah. Let me just go tell my dad." Megan smiled happily.
"I'll wait here?" He suggested. Megan nodded and kissed him before she walked off.
"Shut up." She laughed as she walked past her uncle and Mario who were standing where she had left them, smirking. She headed upstairs and found her dad sitting in the chair next to his bed, talking to Jesse.
"Hi." She smiled as she walked into the room.
"Well that's the first proper smile I've seen in weeks." Mike said happily.
"Well, Jason's here..."
"And?"
"And we talked. We're gonna go for a walk if that's alright? Just let me know when you're discharged and I'll head back." Megan told her dad.
"Okay." He nodded.
"Love you, bye!" She said, not giving either Mike or Jesse a chance to say anything else before she left again.
