"okay when i tell you this you have to promise not to tell a soul," dasom muttered after putting her spoon down. "and im looking at you, yunghwa, because i know you love your gossip." she said before yunghwa could even think to look into her side eye.
"we promise. i mean, who are we gonna tell?" minjeong snorted, pausing for a second before clicking her tongue. "actually don't answer that." she mumbled, going back to her bowl of udon.
"yeah so not a soul," dasom rolled her eyes. "so this may be shocking to hear but haechans actually a helpless loser." she began, earning less than amused looks from the girls.
"i think everyone on the planet probably found that out by now, lovey," subin sighed, running a hand through her hair and leaning back into the couch cushions. "but i know there's more to it, just not the greatest start." she smiled.
"right so we all know moon seolee. hyuck was like, in love in love with her. i'm pretty sure he still is," she began to explain, earning quiet gasps from the girls. "you guys get what im hinting at right?" she sighed.
"moon seolee like the moon seolee who just invited us to her wedding? the moon seolee who's heavily in love with xiaojun, that moon seolee?" minjeong choked out, eyes wide.
"i don't think there's many moon seolees we know," subin shook her head, picking her cup up. "so he's so hellbent on me getting my happy ending because the love of his life is getting married to one of his best friends?" she questioned, pulling her straw closer to her mouth.
"i think he thought that seolee was his soulmate or whatever you hopeless romantics like to believe and now he thinks he'll never find that person again." dasom rolled her eyes, leaning back against the couch.
"hey! i believe that soulmates are real, even if we don't have silly little tattoos to tell us so," yunghwa argued, folding her arms. "but i don't think that seolee was his soulmate, not when her and xiaojun are the way that they are." in love, is what she meant.
she's gone on this whole spiel before, about how soulmates are real even if there's nothing to show it. how if you think someone's your soulmate and they actually fall in love with someone else then they're not your soulmate.
as silly as it was, subin silently agreed with her. seolee and xiaojun were both heavily in love with each other, hence the reason they were getting married so there was no doubt that her and haechan weren't meant to be.
and it made her feel bad because having to watch the love of your life be married to someone else is hard, but watching her marry one of his best friends? that's harsh.
"hyuck has been trying to play cupid ever since he found out they got engaged because he needs a distraction from the idea of it. i literally just came to that realization." dasom pursed her lips, mindlessly spinning her spoon in her udon.
"so now he's trying to push subin and sunwoo together when clearly they're not right for each other," minjeong hummed, turning to subin with a slight smile. "no offense to you of course. but seriously if you think kim sunwoo is the one you're meant to be with, you've officially lost it." she chuckled, shaking her head at subins offended look.
"but what about haechan? what do you think of him?" yunghwa mused, earning a side eye from dasom. "i'm just saying. if you really think about it haechan and subin have a lot in common. plus they both have large opinions on music and have pretty voices." she stressed.
"i think that he's alright. but im just not the biggest fan of his character right now. he's definitely not ugly and he has a pretty voice but if i were to expect anything with him id be crazy." subin admitted, comfortable enough to share her opinion with these girls and these girls only.
if it were anyone else she'd strictly refuse the idea, but internally she knew at this point she was willing to do anything to get her mind off of her ex girlfriend which was proven a hard task as she seemed to be in every movie or tv show she wanted to watch.
maybe that's why she was so obsessed with just the idea of sunwoo. admittedly she had never tried to strike up a conversation with the male besides whether or not their coworkers were coming in or if she could be on watch tower.
in retrospect it probably wasn't the wisest thing to have such a big crush on someone you hardly knew. because she knew not one thing about sunwoo that wasn't common knowledge. she didn't even know his favorite color, that was bad.
and this is how she came to the realization that maybe her little infatuation with sunwoo was only a hyperfixation with the idea of him. and of course the topic of her ending up with haechan and haechans miserable love life had to bring her to this realization.
"real eyes realize," minjeong said while squinting at subin. "you're considering it, aren't you? you're considering dating haechan!" she exclaimed, slapping the olders shoulder repeatedly.
"grow up, i was not," subin groaned, pushing her hand away. "i was considering the fact that i know absolutely nothing about sunwoo so for me to like him and try to date him is silly." she rolled her eyes, rubbing her arm.
"you and my brother are two peas in a pod, it's annoying," dasom huffed. "you find awful distractions from the things that you don't wanna talk about and pretend that it makes your life great." she grumbled, earning a look of offense from subin.
"my life is great, thank you very much. just cause my big actor star ex girlfriend dumped me to be even bigger doesn't mean that my life has gone to ruin." she defended.
and what she was saying was true. at least she didn't have to wallow in self pity every week because she hardly got to see her girlfriend anymore. she's been happier staying single and living out her beach girl dreams, and honestly that's how she wanted it to stay.
she didn't necessarily need a significant other, but the thought of it was nice. back when her and izumi weren't having troubles seeing and talking to each other face to face, they had the best relationships.
they were able to confide in each other for comfort, sit in parking lots and talk shit about everyone that went by, and do everything a couple did when they were in love.
there was something special about that, being in love. it could make and break you all at the same time and there was nothing that you could do about it because it was uncontrollable. as much as we like to think we can, there's no defying the laws of love.
"you know what, binnie, the idea of you ending up with my brother seriously isn't terrible," dasom hummed, visibly envisioning the idea. "i mean it's not like you hate him, you just don't like his personality yet." subin raised a brow to the way dasom had said "yet" like it was ever gonna happen.
"oh come on, bin. you know good and well that the only reason you don't like him right now is because he's way too friendly and loud and you hate when people you don't know act that way towards you." yunghwa rolled her eyes.
"okay when you put it like that it makes me sound like a bad person..." subin grumbled. "he's just.... well yeah he's too friendly and loud for my liking but that doesn't mean i hate everyone like that!" she groaned, realizing she was starting to contradict herself.
"remember when you first met kang hayun? you were dogging her the entire time, i had to assure her you didn't hate her guts," dasom deadpanned, folding her arms over her chest. "or when you met yunghwa, or kit mori, or yeon-"
"okay i get it!" subin cut her off, throwing her head back against the couch cushions. "i'm not the brightest person when it comes to being around bright people, so what? i might come around to haechan but that doesn't mean i want to date him." she grumbled, running her hands over her face.
"we'll lay off the topic for now," minjeong sighed, standing from her spot. "never say never though." she smirked before making her way to the bathroom.
they just weren't gonna let that silly little idea go.
today was actually fucking insane bro like the unlucky luck i have is insane
