- You disappeared last night, and so did Alpha Mikaela. We all noticed. – He said.
- Did you now? – I ask.
- Yes. We all did. So tell me, what did you two do? – He asks with a huge smirk.
I stare at him. Jace is my brother and I had to tell someone, I needed to let it out, so why not with him?
"Let's go somewhere the walls can't hear." I link him.
Even though wolves can choose who to communicate with through the link, we tend not to do so, because it means blocking all the others out, and it's most inconvenient especially with a battle coming up.
Jace smiles and we go to the game room. Since it's a room for games, it has really good soundproof walls. We like hanging there usually so it won't seem like we're up to anything. Besides, it's empty.
We sit around the poker table and he gets the cards out.
- We might as well play. – He says.
When the cards are drawn, I see that I have nothing. Not even a pair. So, I try my best to play a poker face. Jace waits until I'm ready to talk.
- Mikaela is my second chance mate. – I tell him. I decide to just get it out.
- What?! She's what now? – Jace sort of shouts. I suppose he's recalling yesterday's events.
- Her bond to Asher isn't fully broken, so only I can feel it... and I haven't told her. – I tell him.
Jace stares in silence. It takes him a moment before he finally speaks again.
- That really explains your behavior yesterday. – He says.
- Was it that odd? – I ask.
- Very. Will you tell her? – Jace asks.
- I want to try and make her feel the bond. – I say.
- Is that why you slept with her? – Jace grins at me.
I look at him. I don't know if he saw us or if he caught my scent on her, because I'm sure I don't have hers on me.
- I saw you two in the kitchen. – Jace explains.
- I didn't sense anyone near. – I say.
- You need to get a hold of yourself, you can't let the bond distract your senses. – Jace scolds me – I know it'll be hard until you two seal your bond. Does she feel any trace of it?
- She likes me or maybe it's a faint hint of the bond. Either way. I think if we grow closer, our bond will be strong enough to break the bond she has to Asher for good. – I say.
- It doesn't seem far fetched. – Jace says. He falls back on his chair thinking on the matter - And I also think she feels something. Maybe not the bond yet. But she also seems pulled to you.
- Really? – I ask a little too excited. I was hoping it wasn't just my wishful thinking that imagined that.
- Yes. – He simply says with a smirk. He knows I want to know more.
- Why do you think so? – I'm forced to ask.
- Thomas told me she was looking for you after the first session of the meeting. – Jace says.
- That really doesn't prove anything. – I say.
- He's sure she went up to your room. – Jace says.
- She did. – I admit.
- There you have it! – Jace smiles in triumph. - Okay, so after the battle, we need you two to spend more time together... Or we're going to have to kill Asher.
