Y/N POV
Sophomore year starts in a week and I feel like I have nothing ready. No outfits, no supplies, no mindset, I feel like a mess. I keep stressing over a year that doesn't even matter all that much. But it is good to stress, I need my grades up for volleyball and basketball this year.
I was on the varsity volleyball and girls basketball team last year which is so good for my future, it helps me with scholarships and also gets me in shape at the same time. When I'm not playing volleyball, I'm shooting hoops, and when I'm not playing basketball, I'm hitting a ball over a net.
I know these sports are good for tall people, which I am not necessarily tall, but pretty average, and yet I still made both teams as the only freshman last year. Call me cocky but I am pretty good.
I feel my phone buzz as I start to walk out of mine and Justin's room. It's weird for a 15 year old girl and her 15 year old brother to share a room but it has always been like this, our living conditions are not the best, considering our mom is an absolute meth-head, but I mean we keep our distance and respect each others boundaries.
I look down at my phone to see that my friend, Kat, texted me about a party at some new girls house.
K- kat
Y- you

K- Y/N!! You know Hannah? My neighbor I told you about the other day?? Well I convinced her to throw a party tonight, especially since I am leaving soon, and you definitely have to come, make sure Justin comes too!Y- sure, i'll be there! but please don't try to get stuck in a closet with my brother..
K- No promises ;) but yay! I am so excited!!

I walk out of my room and see my mom passed out on the couch with a needle stuck in her arm. She doesn't even try to hide it like she used to, I don't know what to do anymore. The house is always a mess and I am always the one cleaning it, it gets hard because nobody helps, except for Justin sometimes, but as long as it's somewhat kept neat I guess, if that's what it can be called..
"I'm home" I hear my brother speak as I am picking up the house a little bit. "Need help?" He suggests as I just simply nod.
"Thanks" I respond with a small smile. "Oh by the way" I continue as we clean, "there's a party tonight at some new girls house, Kat invited me. We should go." I finish bringing up the idea of going to the party.
"I'm down, but do you only want me to go so you don't have to be alone or.." he replies with a chuckle.
I laugh a little bit rolling my eyes, "No.." I start as he gives me a look of 'you're definitely lying' and I stare at him for a second. "Well maybe, but also I think it'll be fun, this may be the last time I see Kat, I wanna meet the new girl, and I don't know maybe it'll be good to just, relax?" I explain as he shakes his head.
"Stop trying to convince me, I already said I would go" He replies to my nonsense
"Cool"

Justin and I started walking to Hannah's house with our friend Zach Dempsey. Zach was sweet, probably the only genuine athlete, he is definitely one of my best friends and there is no doubt about that. We were with each other a lot.
We finally got to her house when suddenly there was a splash under us. "Asshole." Zach states to Justin. "These are my brand new Fila's" he finishes, quite annoyed.
"Good. Get a real shoe." Justin responds
"Y/N, get your brother in check." Zach chuckles as I turn my head from looking down to looking at him. "So, this girl is hot?" He questions which causes my head to go back down to face the ground, in awkwardness.
