Talk about a full 360 fucking spin.
One minute I'm mad, sad, frustrated and every other negative emotion that a human could possibly have at once about not being selected in the euros squad and the next I'm sat with Leah on our date night getting a call I never expected...well not this year anyway.
If I am being totally honest with myself I was more annoyed the call overshadowed the date because at this point I was over it...sort of. Obviously I fucked the first date by being sick and just over 2 weeks later with a loss of the WSL title to Chelsea later I finally fully recovered from everything me and Leah rescheduled. She had stuff to do with international duty and I still had training and recovery so everything was a mess.
Let me take you back to the night I'm referring too which happened to be...nearly yesterday.
"I'm so sorry this took is so long, Leah." I was annoyed and frustrated at myself and no matter how much I tried to smile while saying the words, I was so annoyed at myself. No matter how much I tried to get better from whatever sickness was inside of me, it just didn't work. I even went to see a doctor with everything in me wanting nothing to do with them. Apparently, having a still semi weak-ish lung made me prone to certain illnesses.
Leah's eyes widened as she looked at me shocked, "Rori, you can't seriously still be apologising to me for having literal pneumonia?"
That was it! I couldn't remember what the doctor said because I wasn't really listening but I remember getting tablets and after what felt like a long periods of refusal I was reminded that antibiotics are not painkillers.
Giving my best charming, innocent smile, I nooded looking at Leah from across the table, "Well, I'm still sorry. I shouldn't have forgot in the first place for one, and for two...I really wanted to go out with...uh—you...I hope this makes up for it."
I managed to actually schedule this myself. I even managed to hire out the whole restaurant so it was just me and Leah because I know that right now Leah doesn't need the publicity of being spotted outside of training with...me.
"Oh," She smirks. "Is that so—"
"Oh for fuck sake." I huff looking at my phone ringing, initially not wanting to answer it and definitely making my mind up not too as it was a number not saved in my phone. "Sorry, carry on..."
Just as Leah was about to speak the phone rang again. "I'm gonna kick off I swear..." Sighing, I bring the phone to my ear aggressively. "What? Seriously, what do you want?"
I felt a swift kick under the table as Leah's shoe point hit my shin. "Fuck you." I mouth jokingly trying not to laugh as I show her the finger.
"You, be nice!" She whisper shouts back across the table with the usual million dollar smile she brings out which makes me roll my eyes.
"Rori. Rori Stone, it's Sarina..."
"Oh..." Oh indeed, oh fuck to be more specific. One half of me through 'shit, why did I answer the phone like that.' The other half of me thought, 'nah fuck you!'
I could see Leah's eyebrow raise as her frown lines come out in confusion. I shook my head as Sarina continued to speak. "How are you doing?"
"Good and yourself?" I replied almost monotone.
I'm a stubborn, harsh fucker."I'm really good thankyou! I'm so glad to hear you are doing well. I have been watching you from afar and I promise you, your talent doesn't go unmissed..."
Clearly it fucking does?
"I am not sure if you have see or been made aware but Fran is out for club and country for the foreseeable with a complicated health issue. As I know you are aware she is an attacking midfielder..."
