"Hey, Y/N, pick up the damn phone!" Hyunjin scoffed loudly, the wind howling outside in the mid-March chill.

His fingertips were freezing as he attempted to reach Y/N for the fifth time. They had agreed to attend an art exhibition opening together, knowing she was the only one from his friend group who would appreciate hours of walking and pondering over paintings. Plus, she endured his endless chatter about art history and painting meanings. She was not just a friend but a close one.

"If I wait any longer, I'll freeze my ass off and miss the critic's opening," Hyunjin sighed, realizing he might have to go alone and hope Y/N would find him in the crowd. Yet, a pang of disappointment struck his heart; it wasn't like her to stand him up without explanation.

Meanwhile, Y/N was sound asleep, jolted awake by a loud crash. Blinking heavily, she spotted a blurry figure in the kitchen.

"Sorry, I woke you up," Changbin shrugged with a smile, as he started picking up the pan and plates he dropped, finally causing Y/N to awaken.

Y/N shook her head until her vision finally steadied, recognizing the blurry figure as Hyunjin's best friend, Changbin. Shocked, she turned around, realizing that this minimalistic yet large apartment was definitely not her cozy small loft.

"Yes, Y/N, you are at my place. I bet you don't remember much, considering that you blacked out in the taxi yesterday. So I'll spare you. How's your head? Are you thirsty?" Changbin said, taking a bottle of water from the fridge and some pills from the cabinet. He approached the couch where Y/N lay, still staring at Changbin in shock.

"Drink this. It will ease the hangover. I'm also making breakfast," he then returned to the kitchen to start cooking oatmeal for him and Y/N, who seemed to finally get back to earth and drank the pills Changbin offered.

"I picked you up yesterday from the pub; Wooyong called me saying you were too drunk and crying alone at the bar table," Changbin continued, knowing that Y/N would definitely want to know how she ended up at his place.

"You blacked out on our way home in the taxi. I couldn't leave you alone at home and decided to bring you to my place in case you needed anything," Changbin explained, while cutting the berries he planned to add to the oatmeal.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Bin," Y/N finally replied, her throat still burning and it was hard for her to speak.

However, his explanation did bring clarity to her mind. She did remember going to a pub alone yesterday, drinking shots, and she definitely knew why. So him finding her crying wasn't a surprise.

"It's fine. However, I will demand an explanation of your state. It wasn't like you to do that. So I'm sure something serious happened. But breakfast first," Changbin said, putting the bowl of oatmeal with a spoon of honey and berries on top.

"Thank you," was the only thing Y/N said, while putting the spoon of food into her mouth.

She was grateful that he gave her time to organize her thoughts and think about the lie to make up for the explanation. While silently eating her breakfast with Changbin next to her on the couch, Y/N picked up her phone. Her eyes widened when she saw 10 missed calls and messages from Hyunjin. Only then she realized she was supposed to accompany him to the art exhibition today. It was already two hours after the opening, so Y/N thought she would call him later on. Right now, the only thing on her mind was Changbin and nausea.

"So? What happened?" Changbin asked, once they both finished their meals and put the bowls on the coffee table next to the couch.

"Changbin... I..." Y/N replied silently. "Again, I'm sorry for the trouble and I appreciate what you did for me. However, I'm really not in the state or mood to talk about that right now. I hope you understand." Y/N finished.
