Don't go there!
NEXT DAY
IT'S 7:30 P.M., and I've decided to do something. You can call me stupid, silly, or even reckless, but I don't care anymore. And to verify Sai's claims from my own perspective. I decided to visit the godown.
Yes, the infamous godown is where our story—Tapish and mine—started.
That place still held a haunting presence that sparked shivers down my spine. But this time it's going to be different because now I am aware of the method to enter the godown. But these fencing wires, big cement walls, dust, and big go-through roads how can I forget that?
Once again, I find myself standing at the Godown entry gate, just as I did that day. The sight before my eyes triggers a familiar sense of foreboding, and my body seems to recall the hidden warning within.
I stand at the gate entry, and Sankalp is already there, at an eye distance from me, standing between trucks. He has an iPad in his hands and is engaged. He is still in his office suit, all black and brown shirt underneath, with leather shoes, and he looks as composed as ever. There is also a cord connecting to his ear, passing under his shirt collar.
I wait impatiently outside before stepping in, knowing that once inside, nothing will ever be the same again.
I am wearing a short single breasted blazer with an underneath olive silk top that has a v-neck and black trousers. My hair is in a low, messy bun, with a few strands falling out around my face.
Sankalp's gaze is still fixed on the iPad screen. Suddenly, his ears pricked up in alertness, causing him to snap out of his fixation. With a swift turn, he dashes towards me, a sense of urgency accelerating his movements, and then he stops in front of me, concern etched on his face.
"Ms. Luthra, you are here. Sorry, I didn't know about your arrival; Sir didn't tell me anything; otherwise, I should have assisted you, and he isn't here!" He speaks in a hurried and apologetic tone, his words rushing out.
"Oh, no, it's okay; actually, I wasn't feeling good at home being all alone, so I just came to surprise him." I ask him, knowing I am very well aware of where he is right now.
With a faux look of surprise, I turn to Sankalp as he says, "Sir went to a meeting."
"When will he comeback?" I ask, pretending to not know the answer already.
