Endeavor had to leave the hospital during the night, returning early in the morning to see his son again. He hadn't told his other children about their older brother being alive. He wasn't sure how to tell them, especially how he would tell Natsuo. He was worried his son would hate him more, think he had sent Touya away and pretended he had been dead all these years. Endeavor didn't want that. Enji Todoroki didn't want that.

He had shown up to the hospital in his civilian clothes, leaving behind the man that was Endeavor and instead sitting beside his wounded son as a father.

Enji closed his eyes for a moment, feeling exhausted. He hadn't slept that night, instead pacing up and down the corridors of his home and causing Fuyumi to question him, worried that something bad happened at work. Enji had assured her things were alright and that he just needed to think. His daughter had gone back to bed a little after that, forcing herself to believe Enji's terrible attempt at a lie.

The scent of antiseptic was clear, it was overpowering and familiar. He remembered when Touya was born, he had been a month early and was sickly. Enji had tried to stay in the hospital as much as he could with his son, but hero work did not allow him much time to do that.

Touya had been in the hospital numerous times after that, his immune system weak and his body not made for the quirk he was born with.

This was all too familiar to Enji, but now he felt way more anxious than he had any of those times. He did not feel angry like he had when he saw how Touya's quirk had failed him and hurt him. He was far too worried about his son. He felt remorse for everything he had done.

Dabi awoke a couple hours later, his eyes slowly blinking open only to shut when the light hit his sensitive eyes. He grit his teeth, smelling the antiseptic and feeling the bandages against his burned skin. It was then when he felt something against his hand - someone holding his hand.

He turned his head and forced his eyes open, a sense of shock filling him when his eyes landed upon the familiar form of no other than Endeavor, Enji Todoroki, the man he hated, the man he despised.

Dabi pulled his hand away swiftly and forced himself to sit up, a surge of pain shooting around his body from the movement. He breathed heavily, almost wheezing, as he forced himself out of the bed, ripping the IV out of his arm.

"Touya?" Enji's voice filled his ears.

Dabi felt his head spin, he hadn't heard that name in years. He stumbled slightly, grabbing hold of the edge of the bed as he tried to steady himself.

"Touya." The man's voice was closer now.

It was then when he realised Enji Todoroki was right beside him. Dabi felt the man's hand, surprisingly gentle, faintly touch his shoulder.

"Don't- Don't touch me-" Dabi pushed Enji's hand away, knees buckling as he went into a coughing fit.

His voice was different, not as scratchy as it had been. What exactly did that kid do to him? Dabi didn't know, but he was freaked out.

"Touya, please, it's.. It's me." Enji spoke, although he knew it would not help all too much.

Dabi looked at Enji, seeing the sincere and worried expression on his face. It was nothing he had ever seen before, and it wasn't something he liked. It made him feel uneasy in his weakened state.

"Come on, you need to rest." Enji spoke, moving to pull Dabi back to his feet.

Dabi could not do much to fight against the man, feeling his head spin and the way his knees felt weak. He felt himself leaning against his father as the man tried to help him back to the bed.

Dabi tried to summon his flames, the blue flames appearing around his hand. A yelp of pain left him, the flames quickly going out. Dabi clutched his hand, looking at where a new burn seemed to form.

"Shit." Enji muttered, sitting Dabi down on the bed.

Dabi breathed a little heavily. His fire hadn't actually hurt him in years. Sure, whenever he used his quirk he'd find some new burns, but he never felt the pain anymore. He hadn't expected it to hurt again, but maybe he should've now that the deep purple scars were gone.

"Stay there, I'll be back." Enji spoke before quickly moving out the room, presumably to get a nurse or doctor.

Dabi heard the door close, still feeling the uncomfortable sting in his hand. He looked towards the windows, his breathing shaky as he felt the need to escape.

He needed to get far away. He couldn't go back to whatever home was meant to be. He couldn't face Endeavor like this. He could not go back to whatever normal life was meant to be, with Fuyumi, Natsuo and maybe even Shoto. God, how he had despised Shoto during childhood. He couldn't help but remember how he had also wanted to play with his younger brother as a kid despite the jealously he had over Shoto gaining their father's approval, becoming his prodigy.

He forced those memories out of his head and made himself stand, each movement painful and difficult. He could feel the way the burns on his torso stretched uncomfortably with each breath and movement, he did his best to ignore them.

He reached the window, leaning against the wall beside it before forcing himself to move to push the window open. Dabi took a breath as the air filled the room, making him forget the antiseptic smell for just a second.

He looked down, cursing to himself as he realised he was three stories up. There was bushes underneath with grass, maybe it could soften his landing a little. He wouldn't die.

Dabi's head quickly turned to look towards the door as it opened, Enji having returned with a nurse.

He watched as his wretched father's eyes widened upon seeing where he was, the hero and nurse seemingly knowing immediately what he was trying to do.

"Touya, move away from there." Enji quickly spoke, standing next to Dabi in an instant.

Dabi tried to push the man away as he was forcibly guided back to the bed. "Get off of me." He glared up at Enji, but the man didn't listen.

The nurse swiftly shut the window before moving over to Dabi and Enji.

"What were you thinking?" Enji questioned, sounding worried and a little angry.

Dabi stared at Enji, brow furrowing as he heard the man's tone. He would not allow himself to appear weaker than he already looked and felt.

"I was trying to get away from you." Dabi spoke. "I did get away from you! And now I'm back!"

The blue flames seemed to spark in his hair with his strong emotions, worrying the nurse.

"Let's- let's calm down." She spoke. "Endeavor, please could you step away so I can look at your son's burns."

The hero looked at the nurse, wanting to say something to his son and her but he forced himself to stay quiet and instead moved away, sitting down in a chair at the side of the room.

Dabi slowly calmed himself down, taking a breath in and out as the flames slowly disappeared from his hair.

The nurse seemed to relax. "Please can I see your hand?" She spoke softly.

Dabi looked at her before averting his eyes, holding his hand out so she could treat his new burn.

He couldn't believe he was back in the presence of his father, unable to escape and get away. They didn't know who he really was, and he felt a sense of worry for what would happen if they did find out who he really was. He couldn't exactly continue being Dabi like this, not with his body sensitive to his flames. But, his body had always been sensitive to his flames, they had just damaged his body enough that he barely realised it anymore.
