There's a knock on the door, and a Melusine tells him that his guest is here. The guest that he has been dreading for hours.
He pulls himself away from the window, reminding himself that this is for the best. This person will know what to do, he's sure of it.
"Monsieur Neuvillette, my, how you certainly have metamorphosed over the past several thousand years. One might almost forget how you liked your hair short back then. Does one keep himself so busy that he has no time to visit the hair salon?"
Neuvillette hasn't seen this figure in many, many years.
"It is a choice, actually." Neuvillette holds out his hand. "Cloud Retainer. It has been a long while."
"Indeed it has," she reaches out and takes his hand - her hand firm. "I prefer to go by Xianyun, now. After all this time, I thought a change was necessary. Particularly because I strive to be more involved in Liyue, now."
"Fair enough," Neuvillette gestures to her seat. Once, the two may have even called each other friends. But now - after so many years, they might as well be strangers. "Thank you for coming."
Xianyun nods, adjusting her glasses. "I have been thinking long and hard about your request, Neuvillette."
"Oh?" Neuvillette sits down at his desk, silently hoping that she will help him.
"I've also heard a great deal about Furina and the trials and tribulations one has suffered over the last five hundred years. Although I have no direct contact with the Fatui, I have been working on item which is as you requested-" Xianyun is cut off by a loud knock on the door. Neuvillette tenses, immediately holding up a hand - motioning that she can't say another word.
"M-monsieur Neuvillette?" A Melusine stutters. "S-someone is here... to see you. It's... it's urgent."
Neuvillette feels his heart begin to race.
"Xianyun, may I ask that we continue this conversation momentarily?"
"Of course," she nods. "I shall be outside, if one should happen to need me." She transforms into a crane, gliding out the window and is gone in moments. Neuvillette stands and smooths out his robes.
"Come in." His voice holds strength, even though he's dreading whoever may be on the other side of the door - whoever caused the Melusine to interrupt his conversation with Cloud Retainer. Because the conversation he'd been planning to have with her was important - he had asked for no interruptions. That means that whoever it was has scared the Melusine enough to go against Neuvillette's request.
The door opens, and a tall figure walks through the door, his arms crossed.

Neuvillette immediately knows who this man is. The figure that he is dreading, the figure that he fears is behind the attempted assassination of Furina.
"Ah," a smile creeps out from beneath his mask. "Chief Justice Neuvillette. I was wondering when I'd have the privilege of talking to you one on one."
"You are not welcome here." Neuvillette's voice is sharp. He remains steady, even though he can't help but feel worried.
Il Dottore walks into the room, uninvited, and glances around at Neuvillette's office.
"I half expected to find Furina de Fontaine sitting in your lap." He snarls, his face pulled into a smirk.
Neuvillette feels anger flooding into his veins faster than anything ever before, and his fists clench at his sides.
"Respectfully, I must ask you to take your leave." His jaw is clenched.
"I've come to strike a deal with you, Iudux."
"I shall not make any deals with you." His words are short.
"Where is Miss Furina, anyway? Now that she's not pretending to be the great illustrious hydro archon - she must have a lot of spare time on her hands." Dottore sits down on the couch as if he owns the place. "Regardless, I'm here to make you a deal."
"You need to leave." Neuvillette can't help but rage. "There is no place for you here in Fontaine."
"It seems as if your plan needs me here." Dottore shrugs. "You know, the one where you hold this big, grand funeral for the old hydro archon-"
"Get out." Neuvillette booms. "Get out, right now."
The man in front of him just chuckles as if he has said something funny.
"If you hand both Furina and her vision over to me, right now," he imitates Neuvillette, "then myself, the Tsaritsa and every other member of the Fatui will leave Fontaine alone - for good." He shrugs as if the deal is nothing more than a coffee order. "But, if you refuse, well... there's not much else to be said. Fontaine has just recovered from the flood, has it not? Another disaster would be such a shame for your little people."
