A Moment -7-

Dinner was something I never thought I would experience in my lifetime.

It was almost like a date, almost being the keyword. Mitsuki never specified whether or not it was a date, but there were signs to suggest it was a date. Call me dense, call me stupid, but unless someone clearly defines that something is a date, I'm not going to get the message.

Despite there being no official clarification, Mitsuki was the epitome of gentleman the whole evening. He held my hand all the way to the restaurant, only letting go when we got to the table. Even then, he would sometimes hold my hand on top of the table, making me blush with the affectional touch. We talked about anything and everything the whole evening and Mitsuki looked like he was genuinely interested in the words coming out of my mouth. He would focus his whole attention on me, making eye contact and reacting appropriately to my stories. When I had sauce on the side of my mouth, he gently reached across the table with a napkin and wiped it for me, causing a blush to spread across my cheeks. And when the check arrived, he paid for it completely, stating that since he was the one to take me out, he should be the one to pay the bill.

We've since left the restaurant and have been walking around the town, looking at the art on the walls and streets. His fingers are laced through mine and have been since he joined my side at the restaurant. I'm trying to remain cool and collected over the whole manner but on the inside, I'm freaking out.

Mitsuki is a very attractive man, with enough money to live beyond comfortably and can have anyone he wants to. Why would be choose me to become close to? Me to hold hands with and show a personal spot to? Me who lives in a rundown apartment complex and is paying down medical bills as we speak? Me, who has a condition that will affect me for the rest of my life?

Maybe he's just being nice to you, Kindle. Did you ever think of that? He might not have feelings for you at all and he's just being nice. You're not that great, you know.

Thanks inner thoughts for always being my best cheerleader. Note the heavy, heavy, sarcasm.

Those thoughts might hold just a bit of truth to them though. I'm nothing and nobody compared to Mitsuki. He's got the height that most men would kill for while I'm just barely tall enough to be the average height. His hair is so smooth and always styled to perfection while I have to spend at least 15 minutes to get my curls to behave. His skin is without a single imperfection, clear as a sunny day whilst my freckles take over my cheeks and nose. He seemingly has his whole life together while I'm still trying to figure out if I'll be able to make it by myself.

We're from two different worlds and yet, he's somehow found his way to me. That must count for something.

"I hope I'm not keeping you too long. It's been a while since I've been to this part of town and I guess I'm excited to see everything again. Especially with you," Mitsuki says, his other hand scratching the back of his neck.

I smile.

"No, I've got nothing else planned for today," I tell him truthfully, willing the self-conscious thoughts away. "I could stay out here forever looking at everything and exploring...with you."

"Good, because I've got something I wanna show you," he says, eyes sparkling with excitement.

His hand tightens in mine as he quickens his pace. We get to the end of the road before Mitsuki turns to me, eyes sparkling.

"Do you trust me?"

Without a second doubt.

"Yes."

"Close your eyes, please."

I do as he says, slightly anxious about what's going to happen but knowing that he wouldn't lead me into danger. He steps behind me, putting his hands on my shoulders and leading me forward. A minute or two later, he stops us and moves in front of me, taking my hands in his.
