Grace's POV

Last night, I couldn't stop replaying everything that had happened. My mind was a whirlwind of questions and confusion, and before I knew it, I had drifted off to sleep without even realizing it.

The shrill ring of my phone jolted me awake. "Riiiiiing!" I groaned, burying my face in my pillow. "WTF is that?" I mumbled, fumbling for my phone. It was Lara.

"Allo? Why are you calling me in the middle of the night? Are you crazy?" I snapped, my voice thick with sleep. But before I could finish my rant, she cut me off.

"You're the crazy one! It's already morning, and if you don't wake up right now, you'll be late, idiot!" Her urgency pierced through my foggy brain.

I glanced at the clock. "07:35,Shit, I'm late!" Panic surged through me, and I bolted out of bed. I rushed through my morning routine, splashing water on my face and throwing on whatever clothes I could find.

Once I was somewhat presentable, I dashed to the kitchen. "Mom, can you please take me to school?" I pleaded, knowing I was pushing it with time.

"Of course, honey. Just a moment," she replied, giving me that warm smile that always calmed my nerves.

AT SCHOOL

As I stepped into the classroom, I could feel all eyes on me. "Good morning, teacher! Sorry I was late," I managed to say, trying to sound more confident than I felt. This was the third time this week I had walked in after the bell, and I could practically hear the disappointment in my teacher's voice.

"Good morning, Miss Always Late. Take a seat," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "And I'll tell you, if you are late again next time..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Twinkle shot up from her seat. I hadn't expected that. "Please, teacher, forgive her! It wasn't her fault. Please forgive her," she pleaded, her eyes wide with sincerity.

Thank goodness for Twinkle. I gave her a grateful smile as I settled into my seat. "Thank you," I mouthed.

"Teacher, I promise I won't be late next time," I added, hoping to sound earnest. He gave me a skeptical look but nodded, seemingly placated by Twinkle's interruption.

As I sank into my chair, I felt the weight of boredom wash over me. The teacher droned on about the day's lesson

AT THE ANOTHER SIDE

After my talk with Sam, we made our way down to the basement. The air was thick with tension, and my fists clenched at my sides. I was furious, furious that one of our own had betrayed us. I should've seen it coming, but I had trusted him. Now, I wanted nothing more than to make him pay.

"Here, Boss. This is the one who betrayed us," one of my men said, gesturing to Sea. My blood boiled at the sight of him, that weaselly grin still plastered on his face. I had suspected him for a while, but I never thought he would actually dare to cross me.

"Sea, you son of a bitch," I spat, my voice low and dangerous. "You're a coward. How dare you betray me, the king of the mafia?"

He shrugged, trying to play it off like it was nothing. "You're only the king of shit, Bright. Things change."

I took a step closer, my anger flaring. "You think you're brave, huh?" I pulled my gun from its holster and aimed it squarely at his head. The room went silent, all eyes on us. "But you're nothing. Just a coward hiding behind a lie."

Sea smirked, clearly trying to mask his fear. "You won't kill me. You need me."

"Need you?" I laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "I don't need scum like you. You think you can turn the tables on me? You have no idea who you're dealing with."
