After explaining what happened in the void, the freedom fighters had sad looks on their faces, knowing that King Acorn was no more. Tails: "Oh Sonic... I'm so sorry..." Sonic: "Don't worry... I'll be okay... but I don't know how to tell the news to Sally..." Amy: "Yeah... she'll be heart broken... but she has to know..." Knuckles: "I don't see why you should have let this troll out, as he helped Eggman create the Roboticizer in the first place." Naugus: "It is true I did helped him create that terrible device, but that's all in the past, now I will help you free Mobius from his rule... and I know how... the Master Emerald." Knuckles: "Impossible, for starters, the emerald should never be used... and it was lost years ago when Angel island fell." Naugus: "Maybe... but thanks to the crystals in the void, I have seen where it is." Knuckles: "You have?!" Naugus: "Yes, and with it's power, you can defeat Robotnik once and for all." Knuckles: "Well... I don't know... my people wanted to make sure it should never be used..." Naugus: "Would you rather have Robotnik have complete control over all of Mobius and destroy all life?" Knuckles: "Of course not!" Naugus: "Then the power of the Master Emerald is our only chance on stopping him." Tails: "Well... we tried everything else..." it wasn't long before Knuckles let out a defeated sigh. Knuckles: "Alright... where is it?" Naugus: "If I remembered right... it's buried under the rubble of what's left of Angel island." Sonic: "Then that's where we'll go." Peach: "Good luck everyone, safe travels." Mario: "Don't worry princess, we'll be okay." Luigi: "Yeah, and we promise that we'll stop Eggman before you know it." Toad: "Um... are you sure that this troll can be trusted?" asked Toad, looking at Naugus. Knuckles: "He's the only one who knows where the emerald could be... and it was my duty to guard it... now I can finally redeem myself." Amy: "Don't worry, we'll keep an eye on him." so with that, the Mobian freedom fighters, the plumbers and Naugus, went up to the surface and began their journey to find the Master emerald. Meanwhile in Robotropolis, Snively came over to his uncle. Dr Robotnik: "Where is Scratch and Grounder?" Snively: "I don't know sir... they just... disappeared... but I managed to get a video from one of the spy bots in the ruins of Knothole and... look at this..." said Snively, before he shows a video of Scratch and Grounder got sucked into a portal that Naugus used. Dr Robotnik: "No... it can't be... Naugus is making his move..." Snively: "But sir... he can't get out of the void by himself, remember?" Dr Robotnik: "Yes... but that portal came out from a tarot card... which belongs to that pink hedgehog girl... meaning there's a chance that the freedom fighters are alive and got Naugus out of the void... that troll could be a real threat..." Snively: "Well what can we do?" Dr Robotnik: "... I have an idea..." said the mad doctor with an evil smile on his face. Back with the freedom fighters, they arrived to the ruins of the fallen Angel island, and they began to start digging underground to find the Master emerald. They then saw a wall that had pictures on it, showing a bit of the history of Angel island. Knuckles was able to read them and translated them for the group. Turns that a long time ago, the Echidna tribe found 7 small different colored emeralds, known as the Chaos emeralds, and discovered that they possessed great power that was unlimited. One day, the echidnas fused the Chaos emeralds to create the ultimate gem... known as the Master emerald. The leader of the tribe at the time believed he could used it to rule all of Mobius, but the echidna princess, Tikal, knew that such great power should never be used, so she took it away and was forced to fight her own father to stop him. Tikal was the winner, and she banished her father for dishonoring the tribe, and the princess used the emerald's power to make Angel island float, and the tribe lived there so they can guard it, making sure it would never be misused again. Sonic: "Wow... soundd like Tikal was a nice princess..." Knuckles: "She was also... my ancestor." Cream: "Really?, that's amazing." Knuckles: "She was my inspiration... and I promised her spirit that I will restore the honor of my late tribe..."  Naugus: "Well it won't be long now... the emerald should be at least under that rock." Knuckles: "He's right... I can sense it..." Tails: "You can?" Knuckles: "Yes... we echidnas have been close to the emerald for so long, that we can sense and recognize it's energy." Cream: "Wow, that's amazing Knuckles." Cheese: "Chao, Chao." Mario: "Well what are we waiting for?, time to get it out of there." Luigi: "How does it work again?" Knuckles: "It's supposed to turn thoughts into power, meaning whatever you think of, the emerald makes it real." Luigi: "Let's hope it still works." Knuckles: "Yeah... me too..." said Knuckles, before he picks up the rock, threw it out of the way, and sees a large green emerald, as big as the echidna's hand, which happens to be the Master emerald itself. Mario: "Mama Mia..." Luigi: "You could say that again..." Cream: "It's beautiful..." Cheese: "Chao, Chao..." Dulcy: "Yeah..." Knuckles: "At last... I can finally restore my tribe's honor..." Naugus: "I'm sorry... but I have my own plan for it." said Naugus, before he grabs the emerald into his hand and began to laugh in an evil way. Sonic: "What's the big idea?!" Naugus: "You see... Robotnik wasn't the only one who wanted to rule all of Mobius, and now that I got the Master Emerald, I can finally get my revenge on that rotten egg and rule the world." Amy: "You can't!, you were loyal to Sonic's father!" Naugus: "I was only using him as a way to gain power... and you can be my second in command... my little student." Amy: "No way!, I didn't learn magic from you to betray my friends and rule Mobius!, I learned it to help others!" Naugus: "Sorry to hear that, but no matter... I can always get another student... farewell." said Naugus, before he used the power of the emerald to teleport out of the scene. Knuckles fell to his knees and growled in anger. Knuckles: "I can't believe this... how could I let the emerald be stolen... again?!" Tails: "It's not your fault... he had us all fooled..." Cream: "Mama was right... never trust a troll..." Cheese: "Chao..." Bunnie: "Oh ma stars!, what are we gonna do?" Sonic: "We gotta get that emerald back... somehow..." meanwhile, in Robotropolis, Naugus teleported in, and he was looking for Dr Robotnik. Naugus: "Alright... Robotnik!, show yourself!, I have a score to settle with you!" that was when he saw Robotnik on the other side of the room, and he looked scared. Dr Robotnik: "Uh... hello... bye!" said the mad Overlander, before he makes a run for it, and Naugus begins chasing him. When Robotnik went into another room, he tripped and fell to the floor, and sees that Naugus stood before him, with an evil smile on his face. Naugus: "Oh Robotnik... you have no idea how long I've waited for this moment..." Dr Robotnik: "I can see that... I also can see that you have not realized that you walked right into my trap." Naugus: "What trap?" Dr Robotnik: "This trap!" said Robotnik, before he threw a little ball that released some sleeping gas into Naugus' face, causing him to fall asleep. When Naugus finally woke up, he sees that he was tied up and no longer had the Master emerald. Naugus: "What the?!" that was he heard Robotnik's voice through a speaker. Dr Robotnik: "I should thank you Naugus, for bringing me this beautiful gem here, now I can finally make my dream of an all machine world, with me as the ruler, become a reality." Naugus: "Mark my words Robotnik, you will fall before the end of this night!" Dr Robotnik: "We'll see about that... Snively... activate the portal and send our troll friend back to the void where he belongs." Snively: "As you command sir." said Snively, before he pulls a switch, and a portal opens up in front of Naugus, and the troll was pulled back into the void while screaming in anger. Dr Robotnik: "Well that takes care of that troll... now it's finally time to commence the Doomsday project..." Snively: "Of course sir." said the evil Overlanders, before Robotnik lets out an evil laugh that echoed throughout the city. Unaware to the pair, Sally saw the whole thing through NICOLE, and she was scared, before making a call to Sonic's team through Tails' communicator. Sally: "Sonic!, Tails!, anyone!, this is a code red alert!" called out Sally, before Tails finally answered. Tails: "Sally?, what's wrong?" Sally: "Dr Robotnik has got a hold on the Master emerald!" Tails: "What?!, how?" Sally: "He knocked that traitor Naugus out cold with sleeping gas and took the emerald from him, and now he plans to use it for his Doomsday project!" Amy: "... Doomsday project?" Knuckles: "I don't like the sound of that..." Cream: "I'm scared..." Cheese: "Chao, Chao..." Mario and Luigi: "Uh oh..." Bunnie: "Oh ma stars..." Sonic: "I'm guessing it's a project that will bring the end of the world... right?" Sally: "In a way... yes... unless we stopped it from happening..." Sonic: "Then let's get ready... for the final battle..." said Sonic, with a determined look on his face, but also feeling concerned as this could indeed be the final battle, one that will decide the fate of the world itself.
