I channelled my energy to my hands and threw a ball of fire at Noah.
He extinguished it with a gush of water coming from his hand.George divided us into teams to practice battles. It was me and Andrew against Noah and Libby today.
Noah began to lift his hand again, when two thick vines pulled his hands down. I took this opportunity and threw two balls of fire at Liberty.
Catching her off guard she stumbled to the ground, her suit absorbing the flames energy.
Linda designed the suits so none of us could actually sustain injury in practice.
Liberty rose to her feet. She screamed. A huge gust of wind blew me into the wall on the other side of the training room. At least 30 feet.
"Holy shit Libby" I said as I got up.
"nice" I heard Noah say, as he high-fived her.
I looked over to Andrew, who wasn't hiding his laughter. I rolled my eyes. I was starting to get irritated. My fist balled up.
I looked down to see them both glowing. I raised both my fist and straightened out my hands.
A blaze shot out from both.
"Woah."
They all ducked.
"Mads calm down" Andrew said, you would almost think he was concerned.
Fear ran through me, I started to realise I couldn't control it.
I tried to put them out but nothing happened. I moved my arms around frantically.
I started to levitate, as my hands were below me. I got higher not wanting to fall.
"Guys help, I can't put them out" I said slightly panicked.
Before anyone could do anything the flames suddenly went out.
I tried re-starting them to ease my landing. Nothing was working.
"Focus Maddison" George said through the speakers from the viewing room.
My mind was too cloudy. I just braced myself for the landing.
Noah and Liberty began to run towards Maddison.
They weren't fast enough, Maddison was about to hit the floor.
Six big vines came out of the ground forming a net.
"What the fuck, Maddison."
She groaned.
She quickly got off the vines, which then disappeared into the ground.
"What?! It wasn't my fault okay" Maddison breathed. She climbed out of the net. The vines began to shrink back into the ground.
"No not okay, you could have died" Andrew said with anger. As he swiftly approached her.
"No I was about to save myself, and since when did you care Andrew." She spat back. Sending dagger eyes his way.
"Maddison he's right" liberty whispered, with a softer tone.
"Yeah you really need to control your anger" Andrew said. His anger evaporated while a condescending demeanour settled.
A wave of sadness washed over her, as she began to remember the incident.
"whatever." She stated, turning away and walking out of the room.
"Maddison!" Noah shouted.
"Fuck off" she said slamming the sliding door to her room.
"Just give her some space guys" George's voice could be faintly heard outside the door.
don't cry, don't cry, don't cry
She repeated to herself.
