Staring at the names, Lilith kneaded her wrist. It was sore, but not enough for her to resort to medication. Heaven knew she had indulged in too much aspirinth to get her through the past few days, and she knew better than to continue the unhealthy streak. It was why she hadn't brought any tablets with her. She deserved to be in pain anyway.

In the background, Lucky and a secondary correspondent, Lepidus Malmsey, were each commanding one half of the main screen. Everyone in Panem was likewise seeing the former in his studio at Capitol, and the latter right here, at the Capitol Arena. Specifically, in the mentor's box.

It had been decided that, since they were here, they might as well be featured during the Games, perhaps to offer insights on their district's competitors and comment on their performances. This, however, had only been revealed to them on Tuesday morning, while the tributes were being fitted for their parade costumes; there had been no other common platform before their arrival in the Capitol. It was reason enough to guarantee non-participation, and for once, Lilith wasn't alone in her opinion. Any interviews conducted wouldn't be aired live. Rather, a clip would be recorded, and if satisfactory, broadcasted at a later time, either during a lull or the day's recap.

Lilith felt as she'd felt last night—fed up and dissatisfied. This was not the mentor program she had envisioned. This was not her idea. Marcella had presented a strong, irrefutable case about engaging the audience with more details of the tributes and appearances from past victors, proven successful by none other than the Victor's Festival. Besides, it wasn't so far from Icarus Templesmith's proposal about interviewing friends and family in the districts when it came to the final twelve, which would be occurring, albeit only when they reached the final eight.

Sometimes, she would hear Snow in her head, going on about the importance of the Games, how there was none without the audience, and she would console herself that this was another opportunity for the mentors to help their tributes shine. The audience was an active, dynamic component of the Games. If they could be persuaded to lend assistance, it could mean the difference between life and death. But that would entail accepting the interview, and doing well in them.
