"Donghyuck, I'm so sorry this happened," Jaemin murmurs as he crouches down next to him. "Show me your shoulder."
"It's okay, it doesn't hurt anymore," Donghyuck lies.
Donghyuck's heart hurts so much that he forgets about the pain in his shoulder. He sniffles, trying to hold back his tears. Jaemin feels sorry for him. He gently rubs his back, trying to calm him down. He understands Donghyuck better than anyone, having been in his shoes many times before.
"I'm just realizing that I'm useless," Donghyuck murmurs. "He only listened to you, then he went to see Renjun. He didn't even look at me or ask if I was okay. He said horrible things."
Donghyuck starts crying again. Jeno is lying on the couch behind him, holding ice cubes to his stomach to try to ease the pain.
"I made a mistake," Donghyuck continues. "I don't know him at all. I shouldn't have gotten into a relationship with him so quickly."
"Calm down, Hyuck," Jaemin says. "Remember, we were warned that he would have major mood swings. It's because of his treatment. It will get better."
"But I didn't think it would be this bad!" Donghyuck suddenly shouts. "And I didn't think he wouldn't listen to me at all. Don't defend him, Jaemin, please. I love him, but sometimes he's not defensible. He can be angry, but he doesn't have to treat me like shit and imply that I'm using him and that I enjoy seeing people die."
Jaemin bites his lip. He doesn't know what to say to his friend. He has also been hurt by Mark's words. But Jaemin has always taken it all in stride, only getting angry when Mark goes too far, like today.
"Why did he go see Renjun? I'm his boyfriend! He should be talking to me!" Donghyuck is angry and lets tears of frustration flow.
"Now you understand why I was so jealous of Renjun," Jaemin replies. "They're really close."
Donghyuck doesn't like being jealous, but he feels angry and betrayed. He gets up, picks up his things, and decides to go home. He doesn't want to see anyone.
He takes out his phone to send Mark a message.
"Donghyuck: I was wrong to give you my trust. You're horrible, Mark."
Maybe Donghyuck will regret this message in the next few minutes or hours. He probably shouldn't have sent it in the heat of the moment.
When he gets home, he just starts crying. He regrets seeing that his family is not there. They left a note on the table saying that they went to buy suitcases and inquire about tickets.
He stays crying on his bed for hours, regretting giving Mark a chance. He knew that loving someone would lead to the same result as the first time. To sadness.
Jaemin sends several messages, but he understands that the other person is not close to responding. He doesn't even look at the messages.
"Renjun: Is everything okay?"
Donghyuck is surprised that the person who sent him a message is the second-to-last person he wanted to see. He groans, but still comes to reply.
"Donghyuck: Tell Mark to go to hell."
"Renjun: I'm sorry he went off the rails like that. You know he's not like that."
"Donghyuck :All I know is that today he was a jerk like when I met him and that he hasn't changed."
Donghyuck is now out of his sadness phase and is angry, ready to hit the first person he sees. He wonders if Chenle is okay.
