"BE HONEST— OKAY?" INEZ UTTERED, PEERING OVER HER BOOK TO KATIYA. "Are you with Willie to get closer to me?"

It was a genuine question— Willie deserved more than to be a pawn in her and her father's game. He did.

Katiya pressed her lips together, her hands sinking into the pockets of her blazer. "No." She answered. "I really like Willie."

"That is the correct answer." Inez mumbled, putting her book down.

Katiya noticed a shift in Inez, she seemed so much more intimidating now— before it felt like Inez would give warnings, since Marcus had returned, Katiya has watched her absolutely verbally destroy anybody who glanced at her. Last week she beat Carlos for looking at her wrong.

She was so angry.

"You know, I've lived in your shadow my entire life?" Katiya admitted, sitting down on her bed next to Inez. "When you killed the men that killed Elijah— my mother told me I should be brave like you. When you killed your mother's rapists— Iliya said maybe my mom should kill someone I love so that I could become strong like you."

"They've been using my trauma as motivation to make you 'better'?" Inez scoffed, shaking her head with disgust evident on her face. "That's so fucking gross, Katiya. Your family is fucked."

"I used to be so jealous of you." The blonde continued. "I was never as good as you and I hated you for it. After learning what you've been through— I just— is that what love is to this family?"

"Love doesn't exist. My father told me before he killed my twin sister that I would understand one day. I know why he did it now, I will never understand though. He's molded me into the perfect soldier, was making me this way worth the loving family he had?" Inez muttered bitterly, shifting herself to sit against the headboard. "He's dying now and instead of having his family at his side, he's chasing a daughter that will kill him given the chance."

"I'm happy you're next in line— sorry. I don't want any of this either, I don't think this is me. I want a family, kids, a house somewhere far away, maybe Italy? I want them to be safe— to be able to leave their homes to visit friends. I won't get that in this life."
